Good lord the SBC f*cked JMU. 3 straight road games. 2 are not easy OOC, with sandwiched in between @ Troy, the reigning SBC champs at 12-2 last season. And @ Marshall on a short week without the typical bye week before a Thur game..

How is that the conference's fault on the road games? Two of the games are OOC games.

Given JMU a home SBC game instead of @ 12-2 (last season) Troy. I'm sure JMU asked for a home SBC game between those 2 away OOC. I didn't even mention 10-3 USA is the 5th game, the 1st home game after the 3 straight away. So JMU has the top 2 teams from all of the SBC last season (both SBC West) as the 1st 2 SBC games.

There's always the other side of the coin - JMU plays back to back home games twice and gets a bye week in between two of those games (so staying on campus three weeks in a row). And after 9/23 they only leave campus three more times all year. Three road trips over the last two months of the season is pretty sweet.

Whenever you have multiple early-season non-conference games like that there's always the possibility of three road games in a row. If that UConn game was early in the season it may have broken up the string of road games but that's part of scheduling an independent.

Where JMU got the short end of the stick is in their cross-division schedule. I do get the sense the league sets those up to try and maximize the number of bowl-eligible teams. On the other hand Georgia Southern has to play Marshall, App, and JMU all on the road but got a break with Texas State and ULM as cross-division games.

It's baseball season. :coffee:

And the Sun Belt is off to a great start. #4 ranked conference as of this morning (Behind SEC, Pac-12, and ACC)

Your final game should be a cake walk. I wouldn't be worried. :coffee:

Well the last one was. :D

I don’t get why JMU isn’t playing ODU last for the ‘Royal Rivalry trophy (Dukes vs Monarchs).

Actually don’t get why the SBC doesn’t schedule ANY in state rivalry games last:
-JMU/ODU
-GSU/GST
-ULL/ULM
-Troy/USA
None of those games are Week 13..

I’m not drinking the purple koolaid yet. Tough schedule set up as noted above, esp games 2 through 5. Frankly could start out anywhere between 5-0 and 1-4. I predicted on the JMU board 10-3 or 10-4.

News from last week. Complete BS. Since JMU completed all necessary steps to be eligible for the waiver (at considerable expense), and still didn’t get the waiver, that proves the whole notion that you could get a waiver (which no team has ever gotten) is a lie.

Darn. Was probably the best returning DL in the Sun Belt. The rising 7th yr senior (redshirt, med redshirt (missed 2 full seasons to injury), +extra Covid season) last season was 1st team All SBC amd a CFN All American (I think thats for G5 schools). Gave JMU 6 seasons/3 on the field, graduated with 3 something GPA, + JMU another transition season, so can’t blame him.

1. ASU
2. Marshall
3. JMU
4. CCU
5. GSU
6. GST
7. ODU

Lol CCU last 3 games:
JMU 47, CCU 7
Troy 45, CCU 26
ECU 53, CCU 29

And they got a new HC. Their defense sucked, and hiring NC State’s OC isn’t going to fix that.

No one is going to convince me Coastal, App, and Marshall are better picks to win the East than Georgia Southern. Coastal's coaching hires are real questionable, Marshall's offense is just not good and their defensive coordinator left, and App has been sliding every season since Clark took over. JMU's problem is that they play both Alabama teams in cross-division and (more importantly) they're not eligible.

We're going to have the best offensive skill position talent in the conference in a conference full of defenses designed to stop physical run games and our defense will regress upward to the mean if nothing else

I can't even comment on App given that we're breaking in new RB's and a QB this season. If we go 6-6 again I don't see Clark on the field long term.

 Agreed. Looks like I'll be going to the Wyoming game G8, y'all heading to Laramie by any chance?

I don't know which games we're going to, but probably not the Wyoming game. Thought about UNC and maybe ECU but we'll have to see.

You are so out of touch. SBC East will be like this

JMU
AppState
CCU/Marshall is a push

The rest will shake out pretty much like BDK and others have said.

My 1 CCU game this year is going to be fun - i'm flying up to NY, staying with a family friend at his farm, getting a tour of West Point and watching the Chanticleers extend their series lead 2-0

Was it last season or the one before where you guys were steamrolling teams one week and then the next laying down for them?

Last year. 6-6 for the first time in a long time. Lost to UNC by 2 in Boone and beat Texas A&M at their place then blew a 28-10 halftime lead over JMU to let them come back and win 32-28. Embarrassing.
