Lightning Field Goal

Post by SuperHornet »

This is something that just about every team practices every week (at least we did while I was at UOP, San Joaquin Delta College, and Sac State), but it just about never happens in an actual game, at least since the kill play came into vogue. Until now!

FBS-4 TX Christian beat Baylor with Lightning Field Goal from 40 yards out. It was set up after they botched a two-point play with the usual bogus "modern" play-call at 2:07 left. Normally, I think it generally takes about 20 sec to pull off Lightning Field Goal, but TX Christian did it with 16 secs. Wow....

Fast-forward to about 3:45 on the YouTube clock.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
