Epic week for the Sun Belt. Easier to say that when your team got a big win I guess.

A fair statement though. And GSU Lite almost beat UNC as well.
Now I see that College Football GameDay will be in Boone this coming Saturday when Troy comes to town.

Yep. Congrats to GSU on the biggest upset of the week points spread wise.

SBC teams pulled off 4 upsets, 3 of them YUGE. 7 other games beat the spread. Didn't suffer any upsets, going 10-4 on a week that the spread had the SBC going 6-8. Only team who appeared to vastly underperform was CCU vs G Webb, but CCU still won.

God, I look at that conference lineup and I just want to scream.

There’s only two ways the Griz could end up in a situation like that:

1) get an invite to the MWC (likely not going to happen)
2) Get NDSU, SDSU, UND, USD, MSU, UM, Weber State, EWU & Idaho AD’s/Presidents start talking and agree to break off of the BSC and MVFC and form a super conference that goes FBS. This conference would also be ideal for a Wyoming to join, but that would probably initially be considered a step down for them.

Let the Gateway Football Conference come back in the form of Sac State, UCD, Cal Poly, NAU, UNC, PSU, ISU and Utah Tech.

My absolutely IDEAL conference alignment for the Griz is this:

Griz
Bobcats
NDSU
SDSU
USD
UND
Wyoming
Colorado State

I still think 8 is the best # for a football conference, as it give you 4 (and sometimes 5) nonconference games in a season. Each of these have “travel partners” (although I think that concept is disappearing rapidly with these new far flung conference alignments) and is a fairly tight regional conference (another concept that’s apparently gone by the wayside).

It is the perfect lineup for college football. Something all of us has known forever while the idiots at CUSA and the AAC still don't comprehend. Regional rivalries, not market size is what makes college football what it is. It's the formula that has stood the test of time.

Wouldn't mind sending Texas State and ULM to Conference USA and bring on the Griz and NDSU for football-only membership. It would be the who's-who among former FCS teams and would be the class of the non-power FBS leagues for damn sure.

8 or 9 would be ideal if it weren’t for the league championship games, which I believe you need 12 for..

That used to be the case, but they scrapped it with the more recent realignments. Big XII has 10 and a championship game, CUSA has 11 and a championship game.

Ok, if you’re not for a league champ game could argue 8 or 9 would be ideal.
If you’re for a league champ game (I am), then you could really argue anything between 10 and 16. I kind of think 12 is about ideal for 2 divisions..

Sure the G5 will get upsets over the P5s (see last week), but the below is an example of why the G5s will never be able to contend for a national title. When I saw these P5 recruiting expenditure #s, my 1st thought was hookers and blow.

My ideal would be to split the BSC and add some resurrected and some FBS-dropdowns STILL IN FCS. Three conferences in the West would give plenty of opportunities for interesting OOC matchups that the East Coast has all the time by definition, but the West Coast has never had at the FCS level. To do this, I would resurrect the old Pacific Coast Athletic Association name. Yes, this calls for quite a few call-ups, but it WOULD get us some good OOC chances. Another idea would be to con San Diego into going schollie and replacing LBSU in my PCAA alignment. At least that would guarantee a field where both team's fans won't be forced onto the same sideline because they only have stands on one side of the field. (I know about THAT unique feature of the field at LBSU because I once watched the Sacramento Sirens play there....)

Agreed. And it possibly doesn't happen if App #2 doesn't block Troy State #4. I like the foresight there that often doesn't happen because receivers are notorious for not liking to block....

Don’t think it tops Colorado/Michigan 1994. And there’s been a few others since the below was written 3 years ago. At least the 2nd one this season already- Holy Cross had one to upset Buffalo. I’m sure the App State one would make an updated top 10 Hail Mary’s of college football history list.
https://www.sportingnews.com/us/ncaa-fo ... u4hkply9r6

Congrats on the win though. I’m happy ASU pulled it off- would even more dofficult for JMU to to keep it somewhat close if ASU was coming off of a loss…
