If Georgia beats Auburn badly, just start the playoffs now.

Danny White University beats Jim Plunkett University....

Yeah, I went with the SEC over the Big 10 game just based on that - if Georgia can demolish Auburn in Auburn after PSU beating, but not crushing, Auburn in the white-out, then it just speaks to the gap between the haves and the have nots.

Stuff like this is why I'm never concerned about a bigger playoff in FBS - just doesn't seem like there's the depth there to warrant a bigger playoff. Speaking of lack of depth, who in the SEC is really any good outside of Alabama and Georgia? Maybe Florida? After that just a lot of muck there.

Yeah, makes that close loss to Alabama look so much less impressive now. Pretty much should just fast forward to the SEC title game at this point.

I agree. And Iowa always plays Penn State tough.

By the way, who do those Cincinnati Bearcats play after exposing Norte Dame last week?

The PSU/Iowa game should be great to watch, lots of defense there, low scoring likely but should be great football.

Cinci plays the mighty Owls of Temple next. Pretty much have an open slate until late November when they play SMU. Cinci really needs Notre Dame to do well the rest of the way - schedule is super light for Cincy. Lucky for them the Big 10 teams all play each other multiple times so odds of getting two undefeated Big 10 teams into the Big 10 title game are slim.

Notre Dame was a joke as a top 10 team.

Or maybe Alabama isn't as quite good as some think and Georgia is in a class by themselves ... :coffee:

Could be, and don't get me wrong, I would love for Alabama to be taken down a notch, but I'll believe it when I see it. Georgia always has a reputation of underachieving in big games.

Sure, they're probably just about right as a #10-#15 team. Not sure how that's such a travesty.

Was it the OT win over dumpster fire FSU (1-4), the lack second win over Toledo (a team that got stomped by Colorado State), or the win over 1-3 Wisconsin that leads you to believe that?

Well, the other 2 teams who beat Wisconsin (Penn St and Michigan) are also being rewarded for their wins over Wisconsin. Why should Notre Dame not as well? And geez, Alabama had a last second win over a Florida team that went on the road and got beat by Kentucky, let's knock them down a few pegs now. Even though Cincy beat Notre Dame, they struggled against a 1-2 Indiana team, and of course the win over Notre Dame, by your estimation, isn't impressive, so let's knock them down some. And heck, Georgia's biggest win really was a close 10-3 affair against a Clemson team that's so bad they're not even ranked anymore. Surely we can move them back from #2 in the land because of that narrow win.

See, being a cynical sports fan is really easy, especially so early in the season.

I've watched most of the ND games. Wisconsin is awful. The QB (who is hurt now, which may save their season) was putrid. Kentucky is undefeated, so that blows that theory.

ND was ranked high to begin with for one reason only - the name on the jersey.

Three reasons. You left out Touchdown Jesus and First Down Moses.

I was confused for a minute, Pedos could be State Penn or Notre Dame but then I realized you were unlikely to call VaTech assholes.

One of the few games I will root for the team from Iowa City. But if they win their Walmart shirt fan base will be even more insufferable than usual.

Whoa, that's too quick of an aside to just blow past. Do you even know who Kentucky has played to date? A blowout win versus a terrible LA-Monroe team, at narrow 7 point win over a Missouri team that might be the worst in the SEC (Tenn just beat them by 40 points and even Boston College beat Missouri), a 5 point, come from behind in the 4th quarter win over Chatty (yes, FCS, 2-2 Chattanooga), and a win over a so-so SC team. In your rush to tar all things ND, I think you jumped the shark with the view on Kentucky.
