Agreed. App had to beat both CCU and the refs last night. 🤣 Our receivers were wearing CCU defenders like a cape half the night for no calls.
App was physically head butting and pushing people down after the play, in front of the side judge and nothing would happen. Or they'd hold Likely in front of a judge and nothing would be called. Even the commentators caught that one.

Even if those had been called - it doesn't excuse our piss poor time management, offensive PI (which I honestly think is bogus) our several unnecessary roughness calls...we were 3rd and 32 at one point after a 19 yd play for the 1st down. We did it to ourselves.

1) Coastal, if they had played tighter, could've certainly won last night
2) It SUCKS being the ranked team that gets beat by AppState
3) I'm glad this wasn't a blow out and that AppState was playing catch up all night
4) I'm glad it wasn't an easy win for App State. They fought hard and earned it.
5) At least we still have a better record than Clemson and USC. And we're going to a bowl game.

1) Coastal, if they had played tighter, could've certainly won last night - if we hadn't turned it over twice it could have been worse - if we'd opted to get the TD vs. time management and only a FG it could have been a 6 point win like the Marshall win
2) It SUCKS being the ranked team that gets beat by AppState No offense, but as we talked about last week your SOS until now may have hurt
3) I'm glad this wasn't a blow out and that AppState was playing catch up all night
4) I'm glad it wasn't an easy win for App State. They fought hard and earned it.
5) At least we still have a better record than Clemson and USC. And we're going to a bowl game. Exactly this.
Coastal is a solid team with a great QB and receiving corps. I just think that blowing everybody out early maybe contributed to a little bit of complacency. I think I read this AM that almost everyone CCU has beaten to this point are in the bottom 15 of FBS or an FCS, but fact check me on that.

We've had a soft schedule for sure and I'm not sure where everyone is. 3 teams have been in the bottom 15 of the FBS. Buffalo and UL-Monroe are in the low 100s.

We're improving our future schedules - we've got Army, UCLA, UVA, Liberty (which is top 50), S.Car. I wish we didn't have Charleston Southern in 2025

Sorry Sticky, but I was rooting for App last night. I usually root for the underdog ranked teams to disrupt the NCAAF scene, but I wasn't sold on CCU being a team that could actually hang with the big boys given the chance. Better to find out now than in a NYD bowl.

Dude - you should know by now that I am a realist. :thumb: We've had a cupcake season (doesn't mean I can't enjoy the press and rankings). App State is ALWAYS a tough game. Buffalo was a tough game. We hung with them, led the game, made App catch up to us and in the end it was a comedy of errors and probably some hubris that cost us the game.

It's alright. It's only football.

I know people give the Sun Belt shit but C-USA isn't any better.

To me, it's tough to compare any team that isn't in the Big10, SEC, ACC, PAC-12, etc... Out of the 10 FBS conferences, Sun Belt is usually # 8, followed by C-USA and MAC. So this should be a step up for them.

The Sun Belt is better than C-USA.

Why did App go for 2 when a PAT would have given them the lead anyway? Almost a “6.93 moment” for the coach.

I stole this from FB:

FCS (38), 122 (27), 109 (3), 129 (50), 105 (53), 121 (32).
What are these numbers? This is the ranking of all the teams Coastal has played and the margin of victory in parenthesis.

It's a testament to how far Coastal has risen and how far App has fallen that this was an upset.

Maybe. At this point I consider it more of a testament to how far Coastal has risen, and the same can be said for ULL. They both have good young coaches who are building strong programs (and resumes) , although I think Coastal has come further.

They'd be so lucky to get that! They'll probably get the Bob and Mabel's Crematorium and Fried Chicken Bowl

 Maybe so, at least it will be a new bowl for us!

Of course if we're lucky enough to win out, we will play in the conference championship game. Another shot at ULL would be interesting.
