That’s twice in 2 games the booth has called a penalty where no flag was thrown on the field. Idiotic.

Completely changed the momentum of the game.
Ohio State was doing the boat racing, but it looks like Clemson might be ready to cruise now with the help from the booth.

Gotta admit I’m rooting for OSU. Dabo’s whining is annoying.

Stupid undisciplined football by Ohio State. Just handed Clempson another extended drive for a score.

You can do that for targetting.

One gets the sense that Ohio State just gave the game to Clemson by not going for it on 4th and 4 at the Clemson 39, up by only two points. Doug Pederson would have gone for it.
At least I get that sense. We'll know in 3 minutes and 7 seconds.

And now I get the sense that Clemson may have scored too fast.
We'll find out in 1 minute and 49 seconds.

Which is complete horseshit. If you can't do it for other penalties, why should they be able to it for targeting?

Hey Clemson. You may want to cover the checkdown out of the backfield. Jeezis.

I've seen it many times. No big deal if it helps get rid of those types of hits.

If its that obvious the call would be made on the field. Lawrence ducked before he was hit. Otherwise it would never have been called. And I was rooting for Clempson.

It's part of the game.

Nothing is necessarily obvious to a field officiating crew. Hell, did you see the missed PI on LSU early in the first game? The LSU defender literally grabbed the OSU WR's bicep, tackled him down to the ground hard, and stood next to him as the ball hit his prone body. The entire stadium, except every member of the field officiating crew apparently, saw the tackle.
No flag!

Ohio State deserves to lose for that absolute joke of a hardship waiver Justin Fields got alone.

The replay booth shouldn’t be able to throw penalty flags is my point.

I was rooting for OSU, which should never happen. Ohio outcoached Clemson but they could t finally win a game.
Also, Clemson finally beat someone big. Their SoS is 30.

As someone who was born and raised in Louisiana, who has lived all but about 5 years of my life there, and whose son graduated from LSU and LSU law school, I will be pulling for LSU in the "championship" game. That being the case, I think the better team among the two LSU potentially had to face got eliminated. That doesn't mean LSU isn't playing a really good team and will have quite a challenge in its effort to win the game. But I think Ohio State would've been a tougher opponent. Better on both lines of scrimmage especially.
All kinds of things had to happen to enable Clemson to win that game. Ohio State had to screw up two plays that should've been scoring plays and settle for field goals. There had to be that targeting call where the guy was just making a tackle and Lawrence ducked so that the helmets collided. The officials had to inexplicably reverse that Clemson fumble that was returned for an Ohio State touchdown. Clemson was lucky as hell in that game. Give them credit for being good enough to win with some luck. But they had some luck.
Oh well. Ohio still has a dog in the fight. I'm guessing pretty much everybody in Ohio will be pulling for LSU on January 13.

If you're wondering about the two plays where I think Ohio State should've scored they both involved Dobbins. in one case the play was there but the ball was overthrown so Dobbins had to dive for it. It was called a TD at first then reversed. On the other Ohio State was at the Clemson 16 and called a screen to Dobbins. They caught Clemson blitzing and it was set up perfectly. Very little was between Dobbins and the goal line but a bunch of other Ohio State guys ready to throw blocks. But he dropped the ball.
Point being is that it was more Ohio State stopping itself from scoring TDs on those two drives than Clemson stopping them and forcing them to settle for field goals. Clemson's defense was beaten on those two plays. They got lucky when Ohio State screwed up.

LSU seems like a definite favorite in a couple of weeks. I think Alabama was last year as well.

Oh yeah it's a huge challenge for LSU. Wouldn't be a surprise at all to see Clemson win. But Ohio State is a better team than Clemson. That was one of those situations, as happens in football, where the better team did not win. Whatever LSU's chances of winning are, I think they are better with Clemson than they would be with Ohio State.

Another thing: I hate the way they've got the targeting rule. Like that play that got Clemson off the mat. That Ohio State guy just made a tackle. The Clemson QB ducked down so there was helmet to helmet contact. That created a penalty by rule so we can't blame the replay officials for going by the rule. But there is no WAY that should be a penalty. Also Ohio State lost a starting cornerback when all he was doing was making a tackle and that affected Ohio State's defense for the remainder of the game. Changes need to be made.
