I agree. WKU doesn't have anything to loose.

If Petrino does screw up, then WKU benefit by get $350,000 because of his contract.

He gets paid $850,000 for one year if he bolts for a bigger program. He is owed 1.2 million to WKU. What coach would ever agree to that deal? Petrino.

It's a no-lose for WKU the way they structured it. Look at the article Hillhound linked. If he leaves after a year, he pays WKU instead of vice versa.

I'm guessing he coaches 2 to 3 seasons.

He coaches 2-3 seasons and let's the stink of what happened at Arkansas die down a little and then jumps for a bigger (hopefully SEC) job. For WKU, it brings attention, recruits and he has a track record of success on the scoreboard. It could blow up in their faces but it could also really move them forward and they decided the risk was worth the potential reward. UNI brought in a high profile former BCS coach in 1988 and it didn't work out so well for them though, so buyer beware.

I hate to say it, but the best point here has been made by 93. I'd use different language, but he has the point right. A coach has NO business fooling around with the help. Heck, a coach with proper usage of his time has NO time for that trash anyway. I don't mind so much a guy who got caught violating a minor NCAA rule that has no business being there anyway (like getting a kid a plane ticket home to attend his grandma's funeral). But a coach who's chasing skirt instead of watching film isn't exactly the kind of guy I want running my program.

Why would any parent or recruit want to go to WKU when they know Petrino is gone at the first offer?

You know what they say ... "There's a sucker born every minute." Unfortunately, there are people that will buy this snake oil salesman's pitch.

It's simple. The reward outweighs the risk. WKU, as a lower-tier FBS program needs to boost its profile and make itself more well-known. They can afford the risk. They don't fall too far even if he bolts.

Anyone shocked that they considers sex trash, and that a coach shouldn't have time for sex?

Just checked out the volleyball team, not much to work with. Petrino will be OK at WKU.

Why would the VB team be an issue, TJ? I thought Petrino's problem was messing around with his secretary....

Ah. That would do it, TJ. Everywhere I've been, of all the female athletic teams on campus, the hottest as a group has always been the VB team....
