I know Kelly and the Duck program prides itself on their speed, but this is ridiculous...

FYI, the fine in Oregon for driving over 100 mph is $1148. Pretty hefty for any college student.

Wonder what booster is going to cover that for him....

Oh, and this little nugget at the end of the article caught my eye.
Despite his electrifying performances on the field, Oregon coaches often mentioned Harris' need to mature off of it. But during spring practice, Harris and his coaches talked of his newfound maturity and team leadership.
Uh....guess not.

I read that the rental car was in the name of a staff member...

That is correct. He could not rent the car as his license was suspended. Common knowledge that you cannot rent a car with a suspended license.

Word is now coming out that this could be a possible violation of the NCAA. One of the laws cited by 750AM The Game in Portland by John Lund, is that (paraphrasing) no university employee or any employee of the athletic department can give preferential treatment to a college athlete, including the use of an automobile.

Something smells funny in Eugene and it ain't those little cigarettes.

I drove almost that fast once. (no cops around though).
dumb thing to do, sure (especially with a suspended license),
but I can't exactly throw stones in this instance.

2011 Nissan Ultima. Word is that it was due back at Hertz at the Eugene Airport at 6 am (he was cited at 4:37 am just outside of Albany, about 40 miles from Eugene).

I drove above 100 twice, back when the daytime speed limit in Montana was "reasonable and prudent". Never at 4:30 in the morning, though.

He's a player right? What is he doing with a rental if he's under 25? :?

Evidently you don't need to be 25 anymore to rent a car (most Portland talk radio said that). There is usually an extra charge but you don't need to be 25. But you still can't rent a car with a suspended license.

Jay Allen, Ducks reporter for Portland's 750AM The Game, has reported that Kelly has suspended Harris "indefinitely" and would miss "at least" the opening game at Cowboys Stadium against LSU.

I guess so, where I have lived throughout my life (Connecticut and Florida) I would never be able to get it up that high if I tried.

Yeah, the interstate here isn't exactly what you'd call crowded. Back when the speed limit was 'reasonable and prudent', BMW would take their cars out to the eastern part of the state for testing.

You could do it on I-10 between Tallahassee and Pensacola, I've done 90-95 easily there.

thats what I've heard from my cousin who goes to FSU. As you already know I live in the Sarasota/Tampa area so it'd be hard to drag race.

there's a couple places on 75 but it's not as open/isolated as 10 is.

Since we're also on the topic, is it me or are Florida drivers terrible? :ohno:

Is it just me, or do all drivers everywhere suck donkey balls, except, of course, for the person making the statement?
