Cinci vs ND. I enjoy ND football and would love for an Indy to be a challenge to the SEC at the end of the season.

Not impressed with any of those games, so I went with my position coach (now a consultant at Maryland).

Really tough to choose. Went with Ark @ UGA for no particular reason.

Arkansas-Georgia. The Razorback D impressed me in the A&M game.

Pig Souie vs the Bulldogs.

I didn't want to get Ganny's hackles up by picking the Kelly bowl and saying some critical of Golden Dopers. ;)

Well done, envy of the Irish duly noted.

I picked the ND game - for either team (ND or Cincy), a win here is huge and either could project to win out the rest of the season if they win this game. Could be huge for the playoffs at the end of the year.

Lots of good games though. Arkansas/Georgia is big, seeing if Ole Miss is for real is big, even that Wake Forest game is interesting given that Clemson and the rest of the ACC are doing their best Pac-12 imitation and crapping out.

I lump the Irish in with Alabama, USC, and Texas - bloated and arrogant. Maybe that's envy, maybe it's just realistic. :coffee:

Good analysis of the games. I picked ArKansas/Georgia because we get to see if Pig Souie is the real deal. The Fickell bowl is a close second.

Agreed, UNI. About the only thing in Texas' favor is that they're the alma mater of my favorite football coach (unfortunately no longer with us)....

Awful win for Mrs89's Hoos last night. Awful in that they should have lost. I had this weird feeling the Miami kicker was going to miss the FG.

And this happened...

I couldn't see much on that play. Too many bodies flying around. Certainly not enough to overturn the call on the field.

?? The video has the slow motion replay, it's clear the ball bounces off a player's back, then his hand, and then he catches it cleanly. There wasn't any doubt.

Maybe there was a glitch in my playback, GF. It looked like that might be the case, but even in slo-mo ,it went by so quick I couldn't tell if it hit the ground or not. I would have to go with a "stands" call rather than "confirmed."

Of course, any call going against Miami (FL) is a GOOD call. Especially THIS one....

I watched that game live

BTW the name of the play was “Flood Tip”. I remember that from the next week’s issue of Sports Illustrated. My first job was cleaning up my Dad’s dentist office on weekday afternoons. When I was done, I’d sit in the waiting room and read the new magazines, and he had a subscription to SI.

No idea what ever happened to the swimsuit issues within a day of their arrival... mystery!
