Republicans Block "Perfectly Qualified" Nominee

The GOP successfully filibustered the nomination of David Hayes to be Deputy Secretary of the Interior.
The filibuster was led by Utah Senator Robert Bennett who said "David Hayes is perfectly qualified to be Deputy Secretary of Interior and I want him to be confirmed."
Bennett pushed to block a vote on his confirmation because of the Interior Department’s decision to cancel oil and gas drilling leases near several national parks in Utah.
Three democrats were absent today, Ted Kennedy, John Kerry (attending a funeral) and Barbara Mikulski.
Harry Reid has vowed to confirm Hayes even if he has to wait for Al Franken to be seated.
It's pretty lame for Republicans to block a nomination of someone they say is perfectly qualified and not even blocking the nominee because of a view of that nominee but instead because of what the Department the nominee is up for has done.

It's called "Borking". Get used to it. Even with Franken and the other crooks seated, the Republicans can still make so much trouble, they'll be able to make every challenged nominee go through hell to get seated.
Payback's a bitch.

Uhh, yeaaaaah.....well, T,........Have ya had a chance to assess the Republican Party lately?
They are a laughing stock of global proportion. They've been relegated to a minority of D.C. "Class Clowns". Nincompoops who want to have no role in solutions or helping people, they just want to fvck stuff up. Don't underestimate the the fact that the media and the masses are aware of this AND certainly don't underestimae the will of democratic party to ensure they're aware of it.
Dere's a new sheriff in town, fatman!

True, the conks have done their share of fvcking things up, but anything the conks have fvcked up the donks have fvcked up worse.
Donk "solutions" inevitably make the problem worse. Donks have "helped people" by rewarding every conceivable dysfuntional behavior, punishing productive behavior, and creating a permanent underclass.
Gee, thanks for the "help."
I, for one, do not underestimate the will of the Democratic Party to fvck things up.

"Bryce?!?"
Sorry. In all my pomposity, I do not follow the brilliant insider humor of the "intellectual elite."
Did you actually have a point or a counterpoint?

Estrada was a freakin' shame. I knew the guy personally some years back when he was an assistant US attorney in New York. Would have been a great, great judge.

My thoughts exactly. Save it for the coming SCOTUS nomination. Obama will start with a liberal and the reps need to haggle 'em down to a moderate.

Never does. Just regurgitates extremist left talking points...but can't back any of it up with analysis.

What a shitty call.
"Hey David, you are great! You would do so nicely at the Department of the Interior. But, unfortunately they are doing some bad things, so we won't let you go in and clean things up. But still, you're a great guy. If it weren't for my Republican moniker, I'd go Larry Craig on you. Seriously, i'll be Mark Foley and you can be my aid!"
F'n politics.
