Socialist State of Washington Growing

Post by kalm »

But, but, but…Florida, Texas, red states!?!
Each November, the Office of Financial Management shares the most up-to-date forecast for the state's population. The latest report shows Washington grew about 14.6%, which is about twice the national average. Most of that growth has been in the Puget Sound region.…

But there are some likely suspects, mostly people moving to Washington from neighboring states. Mohrman said data from state drivers licenses shows Washington attracts new residents from California, Oregon, Idaho, Arizona, and Texas.

Arizona and Texas refugees probably have kids about to start school, I know people that like Florida but will leave when their kids become school age

"Not getting any younger" probably means the majority are people with older or no kids.

The extremely socialist no income tax plus more people working remotely equals a financially attractive place to live.

Texas gets theirs from property taxes

True although high sales tax is regressive.

The "extremely socialist" no income tax was tongue in cheek.

How does uber progressive Washington have no income tax and a high sales tax? Is Washington growing because of them and despite having a socialist government?

We’ve never had an income tax (at least in my adult life) and I know the B&O tax generates some revenue. But the income tax likely attracts and/or retains businesses.

It’s the CSSR - California Soviet Socialist Republic. Stan is reserve for states like Floridastan and Texastan with taliban like governments focused on imposing their religious mores on everyone.

They went back where they came from - if they keep doing that for about 20 years CA could once again become the place to be

Socialist and growth in the same sentence. Oh, that is an oxymoron.

You know we’re as much a socialist state as the U.S. is a capitalist country, right?

I don’t give shit if CH went to college or not. I knew plenty of people who I couldn’t understand how they got a degree and plenty others who didn’t go to college who would have excelled.

Watched a Young Turks piece on Scandinavian countries fighting Elon Musk over unions. One trade union leader said look Elon, we have $48 median wages, 5 weeks guaranteed vacation, 1 paid year of paternity/maternity leave. That’s called freedom.

Interesting take…worker’s economic freedom to a high standard of living vs. Musk’s hardcore libertarian, anti-union freedom.

How bout instead we increase our awareness of sarcasm?

Ol' CuntHair is obviously sensitive about his lack of formal education for some reason that nobody cares about and rises to the bait every time.

...and you calling somebody else "pompous"?

Thank you - and I don't really give a fuck about your formal education, just found something that winds you up - used to be that this didn't need any explaining when the old school was here - even BD wasn't as pussified as now and could give as good as he go(Now he just sits there in the dark and whimpers. Like Chuchundra in Rikki Tikki Tavi.) It sounds like our paths weren't that different. I had no plans for college originally and only went back to school because of the GI Bill and graduated at the age of 32. Believe me I know about the difference between paper smart and lab smarts - I saw more than one whiz at Differential Equations who couldn't do shit like put a diode in the right direction or would send AC into the DC end of a rectifier
