Trying to compare a years long prison sentence to a civil fine isn’t even apples to oranges. Someone can’t fully serve a 10 or 20 year sentence in 1 or 2 year appeals process. Just like a fraction of a prison sentence (if not granted bail) would be served during the appeals process) a certain fraction of a civil fine should have to apply during the appeals process, not the entire fine. And that is what we have with the 175 million. That’s still very high (almost 40%) of the 454 million fine.
doesn't matter. He still owes the half billion after he loses his appeal

Lol after all appeals are done in the next several years, (NYS amd federal) he won’t owe remotely close to a half billion..

How come the only crimes you guys talk about are Trumps ?

None of you ever talk about crimes that affect the actual people, unless of course Trump is supposedly involved somehow

To paraphrase ... Do you really think the trump and the MAQA yahoos are gonna roll over and let biden be president again? You think they’re just gonna go away, all of a sudden, really find Jesus and be an honest election?

Known attempts to steal the 2020 election / commit voter fraud:
- Arranging for slates of fraudulent electors
- trump's calls attempting to bully state officials into not certifying results or to "find" votes
- January 6 riot to prevent Constitutional transfer of power
- Republican official who claimed 2020 election was stolen voted illegally nine time
- Kim Taylor was sentenced to four months in prison
- Scottsdale woman avoids jail for voting dead mom's ballot
- Another Republican convicted of voter fraud at Florida GOP stronghold
- N. Carolina AG to weigh charges in Meadows voter fraud case

No worse than the democrats (including elements within the intel communties amd DOJ) attempting a soft coup in 2016 to overturn the election with their fake Trump Russia collusion hoax.

I don't disagree. I think there was some inappropriate communication between the trump campaign and russia but it didn't rise to the level of collusion and I don't think it impacted the 2016 election any more than the things that MAQA yahoos get all snowflakey about impacted the 2020 election.

There is just as much of a chance that trump stole the 2016 election as there is that biden stole the 2020 election.

And thanks for continuing to highlight similarities between the zealous right and the woke left. I appreciate you making it easy for me. :coffee:

Well, at least you openly admit that the former guy has committed several crimes. That's the first step towards healing. Hopefully you will make it out of the cult completely.

Best of luck with your therapy.

Robert you really have no idea … I don’t even know where to start with you but I suspect you have misinterpreted everything that I’ve said on here.

Hopefully you’ve learned that Joey Rotten is every bit as bad as Trump, in fact much worse. Trump was a much better President than our national clown Biden

14 of Trump's most outrageous 'birther' claims -- half from after 2011

Awe, hildamort was donald’s plus one on the birther lies. Peas in a pod, birds of a feather and all that. Just more examples of each side being like the other.

Not everyone is against Trump (see Sununu).

All politics and temporary power, zero principle.
That dynamic already appears to be at work as people are obeying in advance. On April 10, Pulitzer Prize–winning photographer David Hume Kennerly resigned from the board of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation after his fellow trustees declined to present the Gerald R. Ford Medal for Distinguished Public Service to former Wyoming representative Liz Cheney out of concern that a future President Trump would retaliate against the organization by taking away its tax-exempt status.

“The historical irony was completely lost on you,” Kennerly wrote. “Gerald Ford became president, in part, because Richard Nixon had ordered the development of an enemies list and demanded his underlings use the IRS against those listed. That’s exactly what the executive committee fears will happen if there’s a second coming of Donald Trump.”

Harking back to Ford’s service in the World War II Navy, Kennerly wrote: “Did [Lieutenant] Gerald Ford meet the enemy head-on because he thought he wouldn’t get killed? No. He did it despite that possibility. This executive committee, on the other hand, bolted before any shots were fired. You aren’t alone. Many foundations, organizations, corporations, and other entities are caught up in this tidal wave of timidity and fear that’s sweeping this country. I mistakenly thought we were better than that. This is the kind of acquiescent behavior that leads to authoritarianism. President Ford most likely would have come out even tougher and said that it leads directly to fascism.”

As Princeton sociology professor Kim Lane Scheppele told Edsall, those still operating under the impression that they will curry favor with a dictator are painfully unaware of how dictators actually operate: like Russia’s Vladimir Putin or Hungary’s Viktor Orbán, if he is returned to power, Trump will use the power of the state to squeeze the wealthy as well as his political opponents, threatening them with investigations, audits, regulation—even criminal charges—unless they do as they are told.
