Odd now that Trump has literally called for the suspension of the constitution over losing an election. But ok.

Not sure where the bill of rights and 1A entered here but Twitter is a private organization, no? If you want it to be the true public square of free speech Musk supposedly aspires to, perhaps Twitter should be owned by the public like real town squares are?

:)
I'm not carrying trump's water on suspending the Constitution. That statement should disqualify him for future office. Anyone that supports him or votes for him needs to have their head checked. It is similar to those whackadoodles calling for expanding the SCOTUS or eliminating the Electoral College. They're all attacks on the foundation of our republic.

"Not sure where the bill of rights and 1A entered here":

Did you even bother to read all of Taibbi's tweets before deciding it was a "turd"?

Social media is the new town square but I don't trust the government to own them. One of trump's greatest accomplishments is solidifying my feeling that the powers-that-be in DC don't give 2 fvcks about regular people. They think we're sheep to be controlled and exploited.

But you be you and just keep defending and deflecting for the Democrats, sweeping their dirt under the rug by disingenuously saying that wrongdoing should be investigated knowing full well that the establishment isn't going to seriously investigate itself.
Hilarious how donk shills turn this into a "but Trump" moment...also funny how they conveniently forget that 51 intel agency folks pushed the laptop story as "Russian disinformation". The mental gymnastics on this story by the Leftists is quite astounding.

Change some words and I'd think I was reading BDK defending and deflecting for trump circa 2017-2020.

I thought you liked Taibbi. Not so fond of him now that he's shining a light on Democratic shenanigans?

Musk has produced Tesla and SpaceX. What have Joe or Hunter Biden produced besides some crappy paintings that people pay up to half a million for in order to curry favor with his father?

Taibbi’s reporting on the financial crisis was terrific. I can disagree with him here when Elon promises the goods and Taibbi doesn’t deliver. You should be applauding this as a centrist.

Perhaps pretend Tony Stark should stick with electric cars (GM is already passing him by now) and space stuff. I prefer creative geniuses who aren’t attention whores.

I think there's more proof of wrongdoing in what Taibbi's reporting than there was of Russia collusion through the entire investigative process.

I thought you didn't like crony capitalism. GM is a prime example of crony capitalism.

I prefer creative geniuses who are attention whores to supposed public servants who are attention whores (AOChe, Bernie, Fauxahontas, MTG, Gaetz, etc.).

And I'd rather be compared to a fictional hero like Tony Stark than a real-life mass murderer like Che Guevara.

I like creative geniuses too. I even appreciate a little eccentricity (the two often go hand in hand). Musk appears to be more shrewd businessman and egoist than creative genius. What are his political and governance credentials other than announcing “We’ll coup whoever we want”?

You said GM, GM = crony capitalism.

You're the one that inferred that Musk was a creative genius.

Progressive firebrands (like the Squat) revere Che, thus AOChe's nickname.

Back on point, Taibbi's on to something more substantive than "Russia collusion" but you want to pretend it isn't a big deal. Saying the Bill of Rights isn't absolute is just as much an attack on the Constitution as trump's tweets.x

Trump’s tweets aren’t what he’d be indicted for.

I’ll patiently wait and see if this leads anywhere. So far it’s a flop but now Barry Weiss is on the job rooting out FBI plants at Twitter. The conspiracy deepens!

It's way too early to call it a flop. You're hoping it's a flop and it might end up being one because it really is a flop or because the establishment buries it and makes it look like a flop.

You have a double standard. When trump communicates something nefarious, you take him at his word and think democracy is about to end. When a liberal communicates something nefarious (and stating that the Bill of Rights isn't absolute is nefarious), you think it's no big deal, they didn't mean it that way, we're taking it out of context, etc.

I believe Ivy has already schooled you on Citizens. His absence doesn't make his arguments go away. You can search for them if you feel like it.

I was opposed to the Patriot Act early and railed against it being used against AnTiFa terrorists despite their attempts to destroy our Republic in 2020 (I can use hyperbole too, the difference is that I'm not a sucker who believes the bullsh!t that extremists are spreading).

And no, I don't just agree that "those too threaten the sanctity of the Bill of Rights and on a much higher level than a Twitter employees emails" because it isn't about Twitter employee emails. It's about elected officials and/or government employees who believe that the Bill of Rights isn't absolute. Trying to limit the argument to it's "Twitter employees emails" is an attempt to sweep the shenanigans under a rug and minimize their impact. The sources you believe on this are just as biased as the sources that SG is using for the Ukraine thread.

Does Twitter have a right as a private company to moderate content? It's complicated because it's a public forum but yes. Should Twitter (or Twitter employees) be unduly influenced by members of government or a particular political party? No, they should be neutral and apply the same standards to all parties. They haven't been doing that and that is a YUGE problem.

As I asked Ivy…is a corporation a person? In reality or as intended by the framers?

It takes some next level sophistry to think so.

And do you honestly think companies aren’t unduly influenced by government throughout our system? And vice versa? I’m just waiting for something beyond conspiracy theories.

I’m skeptical of it all. Very little would surprise me. Pass the popcorn.

What is conspiracy theory here? Democrats wanted the Hunter story squashed and Twitter (and Facebook/Meta btw) complied. That's not even in dispute so there's no conspiracy theory even necessary for that. And they squashed it by lying and saying it wasn't a real story, when everyone knew at the time that it was real, but the timing of it (close to an election) was inconvenient. And the rest of the mainstream media, because they agreed that the timing was inconvenient, also squashed it. All of this is out in the open and like I said, not even in dispute. So you had private companies and news organizations deciding what news would be told and what news would be sullied and disregarded. Sure, some of that happens every day - there's so much news of course it's pared down to what can be told - but rarely does a real story, with large implications, get falsely labeled as fake and then, at the urging of a political party, get buried by the bulk of mainstream media.

And in this case, maybe it didn't really matter - so what, Hunter Biden is a bad dude, I think most people already thought that and he's not on a ballot so who cares. But what's to stop this from happening again on a story that might actually matter more? Do we really want news, real news, news that's already out there, get falsely labeled as bad and fake and taken away from us because it could be damaging to a political party? The post-partisan kalm we use to know would never have said what happened was correct or okay. I miss that kalm. :coffee:

Nobody is being forced to use Twitter. :coffee:
