I’m interested now. How did Chapman come up with that tweet? How do you know he knew it was a fabrication?
Chapman is an ex-junkie with a mile long criminal record so I have no clue how his mind works. People who are prone to addiction have impulse control issues and lack the ability to think things out before acting.

He is the author of the tweet without attribution to anyone else so as far as the reader is concerned, it would be a first hand account. The USPS has been using locks like those on mail boxes as a theft deterrent since 2016. A 10 second Googles search would have shown that.
Even after the facts were pointed out to him, he does this...

Image

The guy is a totally self absorbed douche bag.
Ah…well you certainly know quite a bit about him. I just started following for the animal tweets and then found his politics weren’t so bad either.

Do you believe in redemption, Baldy? People in recovery often have a better (if often a bit more existential) grasp on reality than many. They tend to be more self aware exactly because they’ve had to become aware of impulse control.

And self absorption in a professional athlete? Say it ain’t so!

Oh well no one is perfect.

Socialism didn't fail, 88, people failed. :coffee:

You're not wrong. People aren't ready for socialism and I don't know if they ever will be. That is why if socialism is tried again in the near future, it will fail again.

People who want to try socialism are either fools, irrational dreamers, or schemers looking to use it to their own advantage.
Could you provide an example of somebody, that doesn't fit in at least one of those categories... :?

Haven't posted in this thread because I really don't care, but the Leftists turning themselves inside out to cry "foul", when there is none is hilarious.
..did you misplace a post you meant in one of the election threads? :?

I find it very funny that the people criticizing Musk for his business decisions, have little to no experience running a business, especially one of that size.

I do not agree with all of Musks choices in running Twitter, but then I do not have access to the information he does.

I have zero experience in running a large social media company but I’m guessing putting yourself out front as the head of the company constantly making douchey statements and pissing off a large portion of your content providers isn’t great for your brand and advertisers.

Depends on what your objectives are (which nobody outside of Musk knows, though we do have some clues).

Two quotes came to mind when I read that Tweet (and the complaints about Musk's handling of Twitter). One is from P.T. Barnum who once said, “There's no such thing as bad publicity,”. There is also Oscar Wilde's version, “There's only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about."

Musk is betting that the increase in traffic will override the advertisers concern, rightly knowing that in the end they will go where the most impressions are. We are way too early in the process to know if that gamble will pay off. People on both sides of Musk's actions, really need to sit back and wait a bit to see how it all shakes out because half of them will look like fools when this is all said and done. Not that looking like a fool matters to most of them (especially "Journalists").

And while some would see the fact of pissing of large portion of your content providers as a problem, other see that as a good thing. Depends on your perspective. For me, as a free speech proponent, I would argue that is a good thing. :coffee:

I believe he has stated as much.

I'm specifically talking about the threats to leave, only to see people either never leave or come back. A perfect example was CBS who said they were leaving, only to be back on a day later. They apparently evaluated all the new free speech and couldn't do without.

My Uber to the airport on Monday was a Tesla. I asked the driver about how it did in the extreme cold the week before and he would have had to recharge so frequently that he didn't bother to go out. No way I'm considering an electric car at this time.

And before you ask how an Uber driver can afford a Tesla, he has a couple of other businesses that are more active in the warmer months and Uber keeps him busy in the winter.

The newer Tesla's (with the updated re-circ pump and other components) loose about 14% here in ND/MN according to the Tesla owners here. The old ones had a much higher loss of range (near 40%). Add in the fact that the battery needs to be at a certain temp to charge, your normal charging rates will not apply if you are outside that range. That is if your local electric co-op doesn't turn your power off. :coffee:

There is a guy in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, a construction worker who commutes 40 miles one way with his Tesla. He has found out that it uses less power to just leave the vehicle "on" then shutting it down and having it try to warm itself back up when he wants to leave. With the low CG and putting snowtires on, they are incredibly stable driving in the winter. To the point I would like to have one (used) to use as a beater vehicle around town so I do not have drive the Porsche.

The thought has crossed my mind. :D

There is a '83 944 coupe nearby for sale ($12k) but it has been gutted and turned into a race car. They did a very nice job, but it only has one seat and wouldn't make the best vehicle for the winter. It would be a bit drafty.
