Well, if the only thing making baking puppies in an oven illegal was a Supreme Court precedent - they should probably get on it.

Hopefully, they have learned their lesson with Roe and start codifying everything that rests on a Supreme Court precedent.

And, to answer your question - they made animal cruelty a federal offense in 2019. :D

And of course, codifying something doesn't exempt it from being declared unconstitutional. It's a nice thing to do and it's good that Congress has found something productive they can spend their time on, but even codified laws can be declared unconstitutional. Only amendments are exempt from that.

They're pretty close. Pronouns don't really hurt anyone so only snowflakes get worked up over them. Saying the opposing party is fascist and if they win the end of democracy is nigh is hyperbolic manipulation, meant to inflame the gullible. What kind of idiot would fall for that crap?

So the people getting worked up over pronouns are snowflakes and the people getting worked up over fascism and the impending end of democracy are suckers.

It’s like today’s release of Meadow’s communications or the mounting evidence of conspiracy based on their own words never happened.

But yeah….pronouns are so the same.

Conspiracy ≠ fascism or mean that the end of democracy was imminent. Just like you talk about with Hunter and his laptop, I fully support the prosecution of January 6 wrongdoers. trump is a tinpot dictator wannabe, not a fascist. Democracy was not on the precipice on January 6 (or on November 8, 2022 for that matter). That is just pearl-clutching hyperbole meant to rile up the base and scare the gullible.

If you believe all of that fascism/end of democracy crap then I have shares in the Space Needle to sell. Send me money and I'll send you ownership certificates. :poke:

Do you lose circulation to your fingertips when you clutch your pearls that tightly?

And is that a double standard from the poster who wanted proof that Bernie and AOChe were socialists? Because they're way more out in the open about their socialism than trump is about his alleged fascism.

I see your back to your less extreme definition of socialism to include Bernie and AOC (the definition I agree with).

And, the next thread you'll be back to socialism being its most extreme form: a planned economy with government controlling the means of production and distribution (Bernie and AOC aren't socialists here).

My definition hasn't changed. Bernie is literally a democratic socialist, they believe in a democratic government with a socialist economy. AOChe is/was a member of the National Socialists of America and they openly advocated for "public" control of the means of production and distribution. They are more out in the open about their socialism than trump is about his alleged fascism.

The heart of this isn't trump's unproven fascism. It's the liberal need to keep trump in the news and the disingenuous "he's a fascist" propaganda helps accomplish that.

I would’ve thought it was Trump himself along with his crimes that keep Trump in the news.

BTW, is there a Democratic Fascist movement one can join? That would be cool!

trump does his part but the Democratic Party is happy to help.

Yes, there is. It's called AnTiFa. They're an interesting blend of anarchist ideas with fascist tactics.

Yes and there are European countries that are also democratic socialist. When they are brought up, you argue they aren't really socialist because they still have market economies (and ignore all of their socialist policies). That would be your other definition which changes when you are talking about Europeans vs Americans. Everytime.

Yep. That would be snowflakes on the left who get bent out of shape if you don’t use their preferred pronouns.

Having a Democratic Socialist Party in power does not mean the country is following democratic socialism.

Britannica's definition of Democratic Socialism.
Modern democratic socialists vary widely in their views of how a proper socialist economy should function, but all share the goal of abolishing capitalism rather than improving it through state regulation (as preferred by social democrats).
A democratic socialist typically believes in a socialist economy with a democratic rather than authoritarian government. The European countries you and kalm are referencing don't have socialist economies.
