I like this map except Idaho. They are too close and have enough weirdos.
Think of it as a crime map

This migration away from tyranny )like the NY gov) will be a “thing” for years followed by conflict or succession from the new Banana Republic of America
So people are moving from the tyranny of NY's Gov hochul to the tyranny of Florida's mullah deconkis or Texas' pontius paxton?

mullah deconkis' tyranny is about shoving his religious zealotry down everyone's throats while giving lip service to individual and family rights and freedom.

I think he's hoping to make ayatollah with his fatwa against Disney.

Florida leads nation as destination for residents moving from other states

From April 1, 2020 to July 1 of this year (2023), Florida had a net migration gain of 818, 762, according to the Census Bureau. That was the most of any state.

Texas came in second, gaining 656,220, followed by North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

California was at the bottom of the list, with a net loss of 1.19 million, with New York coming in second to last with a loss of 882,676 and New York and Illinois at a negative 364,443….

Sheep are going to sheep.
Wrong. Nothig to do with being sheeple.

People are migrating to lower cost of living states, which are disproportionately red. Lower cost of living due to:
-Lower taxes, esp no state income (like FL, Texas, Tenn). Low tax states are disproportionately red. Ex the 9 states with no income tax are 7 red, 1 purple, 1 blue.
-Lower labor costs (right to work).
-Less business & economic regulation.

Add in the benefit of better weather and/or beaches/mtns in most of these states.

That’s not sheep. That’s common sense.

They're sheep because they think that they can move to a lower-cost state but that the services will be the same. They're going to think this mullah deconkis guy and his ilk are taking it too far and start voting for politicians and policies more like where they came from and people are going to ask "why did they come here and try to make it like where they came from?"

Lol no. Higher taxes doesn’t = better services and vice versa. One of the biggest state budget cost drivers in high tax non right to work states is underfunded bloated union pension plans.

One of but not the only factor.

I would guess that if I searched I could find posts on the Poly board with posters complaining about people moving from a high tax location to a low tax location and then voting for officials who raise taxes to provide things they had in the old location. It happens and is likely to happen again. They're moving to Florida and Texas but they are likely to shift them toward purple in the long run.

Lol people have been saying that about Texas for a couple decades now and it hasn’t happened.

Florida is getting redder. 2018 donks had a 265k voter registration advantage. By 2023 conks were +525k. That’s about an 800k swing.

Your 4 different people doesn’t mean squat without knowing where. YUGE difference between say the nice parts of the DFW, Houston & Austin, and just about any small/medium sized city, rural area or near the border. I actually lived in Texas 2000-2002 near the border and it was FAR cheaper than the Harrsionburg area or the Philly are (NJ and PA side) where I’ve lived since.

Cost of living:
-Texas 17th cheapest/34 highest 2024

-Highest 14 states: 11 blue, 2 purple (ME & NH), 1 red (AK)
-Bottom 20: 18 red, 1 blue (IL), 1 purple (MI). Granted I was surprised to see IL as that 1 blue state.
-Bottom 10 all red.
https://worldpopulationreview.com/state ... to-live-in

Clearly anyone with half a brain (not sure if you qualify) can see that, with a couple exceptions, the blue states skew high, and the red states skew low.

So, what were your real estate taxes on your home in Texas? I pay $2100 on the house, barn, pool, and 25 acres here. Good roads, good schools... :coffee:

The people I've spoken with are 3 DFWs and one Houston.

You do know what property taxes pay for, right? How much should they be in Illinois?

I pay $7000 for our 20 acres and house in Spokane Coubty and around $5000 for our family beach house in Western WA.

Houndy seems to be getting a deal, or they’re making up the revenue from other tax sources.

That’s why I asked him about sales and income tax
We have no state income tax but a relatively high sales tax which is regressive.

Still have a high standard of living, quality schools, parks, etc.
