He had an outstanding warrant (probably why he attempted to flee), he had broken the law, and he could have used the vehicle as a weapon (there’s PLENTY of case law to support that.

Was she within here rights to shoot (even though video evidence supports her assertion it wasn’t her intention)?
I'm not sure attempting to flee is the same as riotting against the US Government.

Also, why couldn't have Kim let him run off? They knew who he was and where he lived, go get him with backup and maybe a seasoned pro or two that knows the difference between a taser and a gun.
yeah. let him get entrenched in a house full of weapons. Sure thing. :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

Well shit. You are asking cops to act like a police organization. To protect and serve. We haven't been doing that for years.
Hundreds of police departments practice common sense every day.

Most of them also keep weak cops like this one off the streets

The same as any other "protests" that entered government buildings and broke shit...so a 1.
Saying that was the same as any other protest that entered government buildings and broke stuff is ridiculous.

I'm about a hard 6/soft 7 because of the feeble response.

The leadership of the Capitol Police were definitely exposed as to where they stand. Combat ready when the lefties come around, pants down and bent over holding their ankles for their fellow travelers on the right.
Now ask yourself why that is?

I had to think about this and was interested to see the replies before I voted.

I went with a 10.

Any threats to democracy are concerning. If this was just a bunch of uppity yahoo’s causing a ruckus that would go away quickly it would be one thing. This was far more than that, beginning with the efforts by Trump and his minions to subvert the election results and continuing a year later with an uncomfortably large amount of people still in denial including elected officials and military and law enforcement types.

It’s the kind of shit that we, as a nation, supposedly steeped in the ideals of fair elections, peaceful debate, etc. should collectively and unequivocally renounce.

Crisis periods in history often mean rapid (and uncomfortable) change along with lost faith in institutions. That explains much of this, but history should also teach us to be aware of what has happened before and what could happen again if we don’t take it seriously.

We shouldn’t be remotely close to these kind of internal threats.

Yes…you’ve said that about 10 times. Never mind the rest of what was going on. And what would have happened if the mob had caught up with Pelosi? They would have smoked Kinnikinnick out of his pipe and come to an understanding?

The federal government is bringing this on themselves. They need to look into a mirror and see what the real problem is and why the people are angry, the vast majority of the politicians need to be replaced and if they won't leave on their own, I'm open to doing it in other ways. They do not deserve protection and isolation from the people they govern, they need to be held accountable for their actions.

….or people describing a riot in the capitol building as nearly toppling the world’s oldest democracy.. without actually being able to describe the mechanism by which that would have happened

Please keep pushing that narrative and all the others though … next fall our democracy, strong as ever, will send the Dems to the political wilderness for 20 years and then you can pivot to “stop the suppression” histrionics
