The courage and surgical precision of the young Patriot, injuring no innocent bystanders, deserves a Medal of Freedom and a Nobel Peace Prize.

A lot of truth here. I have a friend from college - lives in Maine now (inherited a sweet house from his father-in-law just a short walk to the Maine coast - he's definitely living a sweet life) who posts on Facebook (Meta) after this verdict that "I haven't been paying attention to the case nor have I seen any of the evidence, but this is an outrage".DSUrocks07 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 19, 2021 11:56 amNotice how it's always the white liberal trying to gaslight minorities into reacting. If a black man with a rifle was attacked by dozens of Trump supporters and he killed two and injured a third, they would want to build a statue for him.
"This means that white people can go out and shoot black people with no consequences!!!"
They were ALL white, not even mixed but considered white, ALL white. Hell, Rosenbaum was the textbook, white guy who acts black that 99% of the time they would call it cultural appropriation.

I don't get that. I mean, I don't think there's any doubt that Rittenhouse was completely stupid to put himself in the position where he put himself, but, by any objective reading of the law, none of that matters once people tried to harm/kill him. Even the star witness for the prosecution said he wasn't shot until he lunged at Rittenhouse and pointed his own gun at the kid's head.
If you want to be all up in arms about this, then I guess nothing's going to stop you. But you lose objectivity when you look at a case like this and declare outrage without knowing anything about the details (and truth be told, even if you did know things about the details).

Re: Kyle Rittenhouse Trial
I posted early on that if I were on a jury it's very unlikely that I could vote "guilty" because he was acting in self defense at the moment. But I don't think this was a "victory for the Second Amendment" as I heard some say today on TV.
I think this whole thing provides ammunition for those who want to restrict or eliminate the Second Amendment. You had a 17 year old dope living out some kind of Rambo fantasy running around with a weapon like that. Yes he was defending himself but he would not have been attacked if he hadn't been running around with that weapon. He and others like him didn't help the situation at all. All they did was inflame things.
This whole thing was an illustration of what can happen when you let fantasy Rambos run around with weapons. Sure, there are plenty of hard core Second Amendment people and there are hard core people on the other side. But, for people on the fence, I don't see how this does anything other than provide an argument for doing something to try to keep people like that from getting weapons like that. There is no question that him having that weapon was a bad thing.
I actually do think the Second Amendment needs to be revisited anyway because I believe in following the Constitution and I do think the second Amendment says The People can keep and bear military weapons. Not just guns either. "Arms" and "guns" are not synonyms. "Arms" is a much broader term. And we are living in 2021, not 1776.

Notice the careful omission of "peaceful" between "First Amendment-protected" and "protest." That wasn't a mistake.

He's going to get sued and he's going to lose. Don't know how much that matters because he probably doesn't have much money. But in the Civil Courts he's going to lose.
Odds are his life is going to be miserable from here on out. And I think it should be. What he is is a little punk who tried to make himself feel like a big man by buying a weapon like that and doing what he did. Then reality happened and he killed people. He didn't do any good at all. If the odds play out and he lives a miserable life, he deserves it.

That guy was horrible. All other things aside. his behavior can do nothing but undermine confidence in the system. Created the impression of extreme bias. Totally unprofessional.

First Amendment protected protest ...
Wouldn't that imply that it would have been protected protest if the January 6 protesters burned down the Capitol?

Cool. He can pay it off with the millions he gets in the defamation settlements from MSNBC, Joe Brandon, et al. You can't go around calling a good kid a white supremacist, militia member, and all the other lies that were spread.JohnStOnge wrote: ↑Fri Nov 19, 2021 4:24 pm
