Cuban Uprising

Post by BDKJMU »

Largest uprising in decades deserves its own thread.. :coffee:
..peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard..
..But you have to go home now. We have to have peace…
..I know how you feel, but go home, and go home in peace.

Yeah lol the WH is parroting the leftist talking points of this being due to the China Virus.

This uprising creates a real conundrum for the left in America…what’s a Castro and Che Guevara t-shirt wearing democrat socialist to do?

Part of the problem is the depressing economic conditions in Cuba - exacerbated in part by Trump era sanctions. They're speaking out against food shortages and high prices (from what i've read). Decades of the US sanctioning them hasn't helped at all.

Aren't the sanctions supposed to elicit a change? So they worked.

It's true - it hasn't helped the Cuban people one bit. But I see where I could've been more clear.

Of course not. Communism isn't about the people. It's about those at the top...and staying at the top.

It was the first one for Marx. Orwell and I think Huxley who were more in favor democratic socialism warned against oligarchical collectivism.

The end result of pure capitalism and communism is authoritarianism.

Medical supplies are exempt from US sanctions.

There are roughly 180 other countries who could help Cuba. Why do we need to send US dollars to Cuba to subsidize it's Communist regime?
