When corporations are considered people and monopolies are allowed to thrive, this is what you get...
If you were on the panel would you have voted to ban him originally? Would you uphold it now pending a later review sometime in the future?
Does CS.com, one of the last remaining bastions of free speech and community administration through ridicule, need some Penn representation?
SAN FRANCISCO — A Facebook-appointed panel of journalists, activists and lawyers ruled on Wednesday to uphold the social network’s ban of former President Donald J. Trump, ending any immediate return by Mr. Trump to mainstream social media and renewing a debate about tech power over online speech.
Facebook’s Oversight Board, which acts as a quasi-court to deliberate the company’s content decisions, said the social network was right to bar Mr. Trump after he used the site to foment an insurrection in Washington in January. The panel said the ongoing risk of violence “justified” the suspension.
But the board also said that Facebook’s penalty of an indefinite suspension was “not appropriate,” and that the company should apply a “defined penalty.” The board gave Facebook six months to determine its final decision on Mr. Trump’s account status.

If I was on the panel I wouldn't have banned him originally and I wouldn't ban him now. I predominately post here on CS.com, I value free speech immensely.
As for the corporation thing, eh, there are plenty of laws on the books to rein them in and regulate them. They aren't the issue, politicians no longer interesting in governing and more interested in collecting and holding onto power and prestige (well, maybe not prestige, just being in the limelight I guess) are more of the issue.

I would not have banned him. Not only because of the free speech issue, but also because of the headache moving forward in enforcing the same set of rules on all users.

Glenn Greenwald becoming one of my top 5 favorite journalists is not a plot twist I saw coming.

that has NEVER concerned Twitter or FB. That's been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt.

I wouldn't advocate banning Mad Maxine, but if a Trumpist Republican did what she did he or she would get a suspension, no doubt.

I
when I read that. Literally no one with a functioning brain honestly believes Big Tech applies their censorship rules equally regardless of the ideology of the person being censored.

Corporations are determining woke now.
FWIW, a left leaning FB politics group I belong too which is well curated and relatively tame is being censored now. Both msm news article posts by the admin and user posts.

Another difference is limiting access to the virtual town square.

It must be terribly awkward for you how much Bernie has been right about.

What has he been right about? Berating hotel employees that can't get his room cold enough? Demanding king beds? Preferring blue, down comforters?
List please.

Bernie Sanders demands king-size hotel beds, cool rooms, book says
He also noted that the senator liked suites, bathtubs and insisted on king-sized beds, which had to have a down comforter or another blanket in the closet. He preferred that the extra blanket was dark blue and made of cotton.
Still waiting for the list of what he's been right about.

Red was a joke. As in commie red. I’m not obsessed enough with Bernie to know his bedding preferences. Hello! Is this thing on?
A list (you may not like it).
Medicare for all
Wealth/income inequality/neo-liberalism
Infrastructure spending (human and physical)
Environmental protection
Money in politics

I don't oppose those things but I think they're lazy answers to problems. There are probably better solutions that are a better fit for who America is and what has made America great than just copying things that other countries have done. I'm also a proponent of equal opportunities while I think Bernie wants equal outcomes (for all except a coterie of administrative wonks like himself who will be running things and thus deserve to live better than everyone else).
