Some might say that it was a honey trap, to see who would attack it, and compare it to his list from that movie he produced.
"Elaine, you're from Baltimore, right?"
"Yes, well, Towson actually."

Topic 9: Chauvin Files for Retrial, Conviction to be Thrown Out

He apparently thinks his Constitutional rights were trampled by the judge in terms of refusal of the request to move the trial, refusal to sequester jurors and by the exclusion of a criminal's testimony regarding Floyd's alleged drug use. One juror allegedly "forgot" to mention his involvement in a BLM protest. I'm not sure this is enough to get him anywhere. As a flaw to "prejudice" a trial, I'm not sure the change of venue or not sequestering jurors would be enough. And ONE juror out of twelve as an issue might not be enough, as the evidence supplied by the prosecution was quite overwhelming.

Topic 10: EVERYONE Mourns with President Obama

Apparently, President Obama was shocked when people on BOTH sides of the aisle were saddened by the loss of his dog, Bo. I'm not sure why he would be shocked. The loss of a dearly beloved companion would grieve ANYBODY, regardless of politics. I have endured that myself three times with the loss of a small dog while I was growing up and two cats after I came home to Lodi. I know how painful that can be, and I was also saddened when the news that President Obama had lost HIS dog.

While I quite understand the pain he endures when right-leaning people say that he's "horrible" and the "worst President in history" (while I disagree with him on many political points, I wouldn't go quite THAT far, as for me the worst President in history had to be William Henry Harrison, who was so dumb that he chose the worst Inaugural Day in history in terms of weather to stage the longest Inaugural speech on record (not to mention attending THREE Inaugural Balls), and didn't take the time to recover from getting sick, making appearances he probably shouldn't have and making grocery trips that others could have made, and got so sick that he died exactly one month after taking office. But politics and family grief are two entirely different topics (or they SHOULD be), and so I don't think he should be surprised when people on the right take time out of their rants to grieve over the loss of President Obama's best friend outside of his dear wife, Michelle. We can all set aside political angst for that, right?

Topic 11: Cryptocurrencies Take Nosedive

Just a "market correction," or is it done? It seems that much of the current dive has to do with Tesla not accepting bitcoin transactions. Will this have any affect on this KC Chiefs TE candidate who plans to convert his entire NFL salary into bitcoin if he makes the team (he was cut last week)?

ROFL.

Topic 12: SCOTUS Setback for Donkeys

In a unanimous decision written by liberal Elena Kagan, SCOTUS declared that illegal aliens granted humanitarian Temoporary Worker Status escaping war and other mistreatment in their home areas are NOT eligible for green cards under federal law. In other words, the TPS designation does NOT trump illegal alien status for green card purposes, even though they can stay here to work.

The Pelosi-Newsom faction are going to be FURIOUS about this, and it's not going to help because their own liberal base on SCOTUS wrote the decision.

Topic 12: Tyson Recall

Be careful if you're buying chicken in the near future. Tyson has recalled a bunch of their chicken over listeria concerns. That includes private labels for which they provide, including Jet’s Pizza, Casey’s General Store, Marco’s Pizza and Little Caesars. The affected chicken was from one plant with production dates from 26 Dec 20 to 13 Apr 21. They have an establishment code of P-7089.

Topic 15: UK Woman with Downs Syndrome Loses Abortion Lawsuit

A woman with Downs Syndrome petitioned a UK court to strike down a provision in UK law that allows for the abortion of Downs babies right up until birth, despite the fact that the law generally bans abortion after 24 weeks. She argued that such a provision devalues the life of a person with Downs. The court dismissed her claim, arguing that they had to ignore "ethical and religious" controversies and rule "in accordance with the law" and some how balance the rights of women and the unborn. An attorney described the ruling as "out of step with modern attitudes to disability." Heidi Crowter, who brought the suit, called the law "offensive," and plans to appeal the ruling. Rule in accordance with the law? The whole point of the suit was to get the court to declare the law wrong. So a law is OK because it's legal? Isn't that begging the question?

As Crowter says, "[People with Downs] face discrimination every day in schools, in the workplace and in society. Thanks to the verdict, the judges have upheld discrimination in the womb too." One of the attorneys involved says, "By allowing babies with (Down) syndrome to be aborted up to birth, unlike neurotypical babies, the law sends a powerful message that the lives of people with (Down) syndrome are of lesser value." While I don't currently know anybody with Downs, I DO have a cousin with Prader-Willi Syndrome, and that has similar effects in terms of appearance and the ability to live a good life. It's disgusting how society treats these people, and it even extends to the womb.

I hope the appeal wins....

Topic 15: Biden Pulls a Newsom

In a gaffe eerily reminiscent of Cali dictator Gavin Newsom, President Joe Biden was seen at a DC restaurant maskless despite his own stated preference for a mandate. Biden cheerleader Jen Psaki was left to make excuses for him.

Topic 16: Transgender Admiral

ADM Rachel Levine, M.D., has been promoted to 4-star rank in the Public Health Service to account for her appointment as Assistant Secretary of Health. She is the first trans-gender person to wear a 4-star rank in any of the eight uniformed services. She is also the PHS' first full Admiral.

Topic 17: Sinning in the Rain

Not sure if this is "political" or not, but a lot of things that aren't sports-related end up here. A recent Duke University study of crime data culled from over 1,300 US counties over 36 years indicates a direct causal link between rain and sin (or, at least people doing bad things). When rain comes on Sunday morning, many people don't bother getting out of bed, much less go to church. And when church attendance decreases, the data apparently shows that non-violent crime like drug use and white-collar things like embezzlement increase. An interesting sidenote is that this link does NOT appear to affect violent crime like murder or rape. The data shows that this relationship is consistent across decades.

Topic 18: Apple Screws Their Employees

They change the titles of former employees to "associate," something commonly associated with junior positions. They do this regardless of your actual position, and when other companies ask what exactly they did, Apple stonewalls them. This has led to rescinded job offers.

A suit is in the works....

Topic 19: Don't Rent From Hertz

They are simply turning people in for "stealing" vehicles they've properly rented and returned, often years later. Essentially, Hertz is using taxpayer-paid law enforcement to do their own investigations. One guy was arrested at customs for stealing a GA Hertz car, but knew he was innocent because he'd never been to GA and had never rented from Hertz. Hertz has even been busted for denying a customer a time-stamped receipt that would have proven him innocent of murder.

They've gone a long way downhill since OJ helped them lead the pack.

Former President Bush announced that instead of voting for Donald Trump OR Joe Biden, he went off the board with Condoleeza Rice. That, to me, validates my stance that "protest votes" are OK. The very idea that if one votes for "anyone other than the anointed party nominee" is really voting for the other party is utter nonsense. I had BOTH parties tell me that in the last several years. I should NEVER have let my GOP "friends" bully me into voting for that sleazeball Trump just to avoid the "perception" of having voted for Biden (or, even worse, Hillary).

I think he wishes he'd done some things different, appointed some different people.... but when you're looking at a mushroom cloud in 45 minutes you can't waste time thinking through every little detail...
