I could probably just dangle that hook over the water without any bait or lure and catch a salmon off my deck. They've been jumping like crazy every night after sunset.kalm wrote: ↑Fri Aug 06, 2021 6:49 amThis is considered a fly by some. You can tie a bionic worm pattern (imitates chironomid pupae) but some just fish the naked hook only.Winterborn wrote: ↑Thu Aug 05, 2021 4:50 pm
My condolences.
You still might get a bite. Those fish have a tendency to bite on a hook whether or not there is a worm on it.

Time to amend the Constitution to add a “hopelessly incompetent” ground for impeachment.

And who gets to decide the definition of incompetent? Our political blow hard leaders? How about those who squawks the loudest on Social Media?Ivytalk wrote:Time to amend the Constitution to add a “hopelessly incompetent” ground for impeachment.
I understand the sentiment, but if the last 12 years have taught us anything, it is that verbal inflation is alive and well and the end justifies the means.
The fact is he will never be impeached nor will there be any real effort to do so.

I was speaking “tongue in cheek.” Every time a Prez made a mistake, we’d have more political theater. “High crimes and misdemeanors” sets an appropriately high bar, although it’s a bit muddy.Winterborn wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 5:46 amAnd who gets to decide the definition of incompetent? Re: Impeach Biden!
I don’t know why anyone is surprised by any of this
Biden is notorious for thinking he is smarter than everybody else in the room... he has been since he entered politics
His cringeworthy performance questioning Clarence Thomas should have been a clue for everyone
Or the way he responds to legitimate but difficult questions from the press
Biden also thought he was smarter than Obama (he isn’t) and could control him like a benevolent uncle (he didn’t)
He is on record as being meek and timid and risk averse where the rubber meets the road and this was never so well illustrated when he tried to persuade Obama against the Bin Laden raid.
I hate to admit this, but at thus moment in time I wish Trump had won the election

Re: Impeach Biden!
Well, there was a pretty good reason why Biden never came close to winning the nomination the multiple times before when he ran for President. Trump happens and all of a sudden someone like Biden becomes "Presidential". Scary when you think about it.CID1990 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 5:14 pm I don’t know why anyone is surprised by any of this

Re: Impeach Biden!
There's just a few problems with that, Ivy.
First, who gets to define "hopelessly incompetent?" While one could argue that both Trump AND Biden are incompetent, that standard for removal could easily become eroded if the requirements to invoke it are not specifically spelled out, and that's hard. We could be looking at an easy way to a coup.
Second, while there IS the 25th Amendment for "incapacity," any form of impeachment the way it currently reads leaves one very problematic end state: the next President would be that horribly incompetent, in way over her head Commie Kamala Harris. Say goodbye to our freedoms even more than now. If we could have a RECALL election (not currently authorized above the state level), though, if it were to run anything like it does here in Cali, we'd be voting on both removal AND a successor. If we could do that, we could avoid Harris' elitist Communism.
But I can't see that happening any time soon. I think we're in the same boat we were in with the incompetent Trump: ride it out until the next regularly scheduled election and do everything you can to get a GOP win...with somebody other than Trump....

Re: Impeach Biden!
If it was so easy to manipulate the 25th amendment into a coup then it would've already happened already. I'm fine with the setup as is - it needs the VP to be in agreement with half the cabinet to remove a President, and it needs the approval of Congress eventually, to remove a President against his will. If Jan 6th happened with a lot more time left in Trump's term of office I think it's possible you could've seen it enacted then. If Biden continues to show a deteriorating mental capacity, then you could see it with him (although I think they'd be fine running the show behind the scenes with him as a figurehead - you could argue that's exactly what's happening now - rather than removing him - I guess it depends upon his re-election chances versus Harris's ability to win an election).SuperHornet wrote: ↑Tue Aug 17, 2021 8:48 amThere's just a few problems with that, Ivy.
