Certainly much more important than the typical VP debate. Maybe the most consequential VP debate in history, considering Trump having the China Virus, and Biden would not serve out a full term (and everyone knows that, whether they'll admit it or not).

It's unfortunate that one can't get into the weeds. I know at some point Pence is going to say Trump took decisive action early on with respect to COVID-19 because he did a travel restriction. If one could get into the weeds and one had consulted with public health experts one could say that such action has limited effect. And then the effect is to buy some time. If you don't DO something with the time you accomplished nothing.
And of course that's what happened. Trump did a travel restriction then spent a couple of months acting like the problem was solved. As far as I can tell there is zero evidence in the case data that it had a perceptible effect. I'm talking about in terms of comparing what happened here after he did that to what happened in other countries that did not.
But, really, it's too bad Harris can't just say "Hey, the media can check me on this: Previous assessments indicated that what Trump did would not work. And it didn't work."
But I don't think anybody can get the truth of that across in a situation like this.

Do you not realize that the chance that Trump would serve out another term is about the same as Biden serving out another term? Biden is a little bit older than Trump. But not much. And he is in a lot better physical condition than Trump is. Trump is a blob.

3 tables about equally spaced apart. Pence and Harris are facing the moderator, with plexiglass between Pence and Harris, but not between them and the moderator.

Harris has spent too much time trashing Trump and not enough saying what they are bringing to the table. Pence is slick as a country preacher, saying all the right things so far. Harris is still better than Biden or Trump. I would list them Pence, Harris, Tie with Trump and Biden.

I didn’t really hear an answer from Pence on climate change, Russia, Trump’s foreign debts, even that kid’s question at the end but that’s fine

From the early returns, it's the prevailing opinion.

Indin’t hear an answer from Harris on:
-SCOTUS court packing (dodged it multiple times)
-whether she supported, and would implement the New Green Deal that she co-sponsored in the Senate.
-whether she would support any restrictions on abortion in CA if Roe v Wade overturned.
but that’s fine..

Overall more substantive, less combative, but more boring, that the Trump/Biden debate..

IMO, the moderator's questioning was transparently biased. The issues she chose; even the phrasing of the questions, i.e., "Trump has said he will not voluntarily relinquish power. What will you do when he does that?" Seriously? This necessitated Pence to speak over his time limit, because he was trying to get some of his issues injected into the discussion.
But I think he ultimately won, because he managed to make the sound bite of the night Harris refusing to commit to not packing the Supreme Court. That issue alone is likely to keep the Senate red, as Middle Americans overwhelmingly fear what a Court, influenced by Democratic politics, would do to the First and Second Amendments. And they fear the Court will go back to the Roe standard on abortion rejected by Casey in 1992.
So Pence won this on that issue alone.
