Violent crimes spike in major cities

Post by Pwns »

Thought this really needed its own thread and just can't be ignored anymore.

Pop Quiz: What group of people will most bear the brunt of city leaders needlessly antagonizing police departments for political gain?

There have been previous posts about the confluence of the pandemic, the lockdown, the recession/unemployment, and police protests. All these are aggravating factors to underlying social dysfunction. I’m not surprised at all.

Crime and poor economic conditions have a strong linkage.

Yup, we always talked about the unemployment rate of young men in other countries as a leading indicator of unrest or insurrection. Having tons of these folks out of work with nothing to do just gives them more of an opportunity to get into trouble, and some are invariably doing that, especially during the good weather of summer months. Philly had 10 different shootings yesterday, which is the 4th night in a row of double digit shootings.

Correct. Which proves that the narrative that the percentage of Black inmates exceeding the overall population percentage because of racism is incorrect.

Interesting stats from the Innocence Project

Link

375 DNA exonerees to date

Demographics of the 375:
225 (60%) African American
117 (31%) Caucasian
29 (8%) Latin
2 (1%) Asian American
1 (<1%) Native American
1 (<1%) Self-identified “Other”

165: Actual assailants identified. Those actual perpetrators went on to be convicted of 152 additional violent crimes, including 83 sexual assaults, 36 murders, and 35 other violent crimes while the innocent sat behind bars for their earlier offenses.

Well, if it was racism that played a strong part in those economic conditions... :coffee:

They seem to be running neck and neck in our history as both being difficult to change, especially as related to the Black population. When racism is the cause of many of those economic conditions (history of Jim Crow laws, unequal segregation, red lines in housing and banking, etc), that kinda makes sense they are intertwined to a large extent.

The big problem with the woke left is that they want their black Fortune 500 CEOs and black Nobel Prize winners right now but don't want to fix the problems from cradle to high school graduation that could give you those.

The absolute worst step to take is to defund, antagonize, or weaken police and leave black neighborhoods as the mercy of thugs, which the opposite of what the woke left wants to do.

In case anyone didn't click the link in the OP, 80% of blacks don't want less police in their communities, but hey, at least donks will make guilt-ridden white liberals feel better about themselves for voting Joe Biden.

It's a good thing Joe Biden doesn't want to defund the police then, I guess.

Chicago over the weekend- 104 shot, 19 killed.
Through July 4, the most recent city data available, 2,019 people have been shot in Chicago this year, an increase of almost 13 percent compared to the year before, and a 58 percent increase in shootings compared with 2019.

This is a prime example of why violent crime in Chicago is out if control. Who in their right mind woukd only give someone probabation for carjacking, :suspicious: :dunce:
https://www.foxnews.com/us/suspect-carj ... carjacking

Hey, at least only 59 were shot in Chicago this oast weekend. Thats an improvement over 100+ from the 4th of July weekend.
https://www.foxnews.com/us/suspect-carj ... carjacking

Meanwhile Mayor Hateswhitey is saying ‘Crime is not out of control’ in Chicago.. :suspicious:

Biden’s home state is experiencing a spike as well. Don’t travel on New Street in Dover after dark. Or anywhere in East Wilmington.

Met with a guy last week that works in downtown Minneapolis. Says his company is requiring employees to park in the garage adjacent to the building so the employees don't have to walk on the street. Employees encouraged to leave in groups and not stay late and go to their cars alone. Another company in his building bought out of their lease and moved to the burbs. His company is looking at doing that as well.

CNN had a segment yesterday on this. Some guy was saying that, since the 1960s when these stats were starting to be collected, 30 years ago was actually worse than today.

To which Jake Tapper, astutely, responded (and i'm paraphrasing), "That's all in good, but people aren't worried about crimes from 30 years ago affecting them today." The "expert" kind of squirmed after that.
