Just saw a news report that Kanye West is going to run for President this year. Apparently he has the backing of Elon Musk.

Will he take votes away from Trump or Biden? I would say not enough to worry about, but I've seen Jesse Ventura become a governor and Donny Trump elected president.

Except they allowed them to hijack the DNC, so here we are with an absurd idea such as "defund the police" as a legitimate political platform. :dunce:

Incorrect, the DNC is solidly corporate. That's why we have a nominee with about five donors who wowed crowds of tens during the primaries, instead of one who filled stadiums and set fund-raising records $20 at a time. I know you're trying to do the best you can, but still, at the same time -
Naw, it's hijacked and that genie ain't going back in the bottle. We know it's hijacked because the VP pick will be someone kowtowing to the Leftist to garner that voting block.

Blue Tsunami?
Blue Senate, Blue House. Its a shame trump has no chance of reelection, him vs a Blue Congress would be hilarious and the remaining Republicans would get into fistfights on the floor over who got to be the first to turn on him with the 25th amendment
If the Senate and House go Dem then Biden will be the winner.

Biden needs more of the black vote more, so this would hurt him more. I'll be surprised if this Kanye thing is nothing more than a "look at me" move.

Sure they would. It only took about a couple of months for Trump to get sucked in. I give them the same chance as a snowball in hell of lasting longer, much less them agreeing on a set of rules and then winning a election.

Nothing wrong with creative thinking but unless it is grounded in the real world, it is just a bunch of mental gymnastics....
I saw a poll to the effect that most supporters of the Unity Ticket are independents or third-party voters. In other words, the Cult of the Perpetually Disgruntled. Smaller percentages of Trump and Biden supporters. But, you’re falling into the trap of doubting that any effort to bugger the Duopoly is doomed to failure.*

* Blatant troll for 89Hen; fuck it.
I have not given up hope on that yet, but what I have seen in the Libertarian party, and some of the other independents, is a group of people that would rather sit and debate the differences in going x vs. y, then actually try to come to a compromise and get something done. Now some of that is just due to leadership, and I think based on what I am seeing in the party that is slowly changing.

One other bit that I have noticed talking to independents is that I get the impression that some don't really want to win an election 9and the responsibility that goes with it) but would rather complain about both sides. They are comfortable where they are at and don't want to go outside of their comfort zone.

For me personally I support a third party and do what I can to "bugger" the system. But I see a couple of areas that are going to have to change if there is going to be a serious run at starting a legitimate 3rd party.

NEW YORK — A few fun facts about Kanye West: He's running for president in 2024, he recited color psychology to wife Kim Kardashian West as she sat in a morning bath Thursday, and he was fired at 16 for shoplifting at the Gap where he worked.

My thought on Kanye West running if he really does it is that he wants to help Trump. He is a Trump fan. My thought is that he may think having a Black guy run would move some Black votes to a third Party candidate. If that's what he's thinking, though, I don't think it'll work.
