So no Congrescritters objected to the 2016 results? Cause, you know, they are insurrectionists and traitors too, right?
I didn't say that, SD. Plenty of Congresscritters were objecting. That's no different. I said Alt-leftist didn't execute a violent attack with the goal of overturning the election. They weren't online, plotting violence like the Proud Boys and others are. There's a difference.

If you can find a comparable event in 2016/2017 to the MAGA Insurrection of January 6, i'll stand down.

1). Did anyone think there wouldn’t be a few anarchists around?

2). The PKK is now a terrorist organization? Weren’t they our ally at one time?

Were there really anarchists there? Or were they just an idea? ;)

The PKK is an interesting study in geo-politics. They're a marxist/leninist group classified as a terrorist organization by western countries. They've been a US ally in Syria but they have also attacked the Kurdish authority in northern Iraq. This is where CID's thoughts would be good to hear.

Sounds like the kind of guy I’d in invite to my lawn.
President Trump’s culpability for the attempted insurrection at the U.S. Capitol two weeks ago will be judged by U.S. senators in a looming impeachment trial — and possibly by the court system after he leaves the presidency.

Now a man with a personal connection to Trump — and whose violent rhetoric Trump promoted to the world — has been arrested in the riot.

Otero County, N.M., Commissioner Couy Griffin was arrested Sunday for illegally entering the Capitol on Jan. 6. Griffin, the head of a group called Cowboys for Trump, claims he got caught up with the crowd and didn’t actually enter the building, but the affidavit says video on his personal Facebook page showed him in restricted areas.

Griffin also pledged to return to Washington with guns for President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration Wednesday, and he alluded to the prospect of violence and another incursion into the offices of lawmakers. According to the affidavit, he said in a video posted after the Jan. 6 riot:

… We could have a 2nd Amendment rally on those same steps that we had that rally yesterday. You know, and if we do, then it’s gonna be a sad day, because there’s gonna be blood running out of that building. But at the end of the day, you mark my word, we will plant our flag on the desk of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer and Donald J. Trump if it boils down to it.

It’s not the first time Griffin has employed such violent rhetoric. He did so in May as well. And at the time, his message was promoted by Trump on Twitter.

In the video, Griffin said, “The only good Democrat is a dead Democrat.” He qualified in the video that he was only speaking metaphorically about politics.

Sorry to disappoint you, but there’s about zero chance Trump is going to be convicted in the Senate, or in a real court.
-FBI said it was planned beforehand.
-Trump began his speech after the storming of the Capitol began
-He never said ‘Go storm/ransack/attack’ the Capitol building.

Only a very small few are. That’s one of a few reasons it’s a bad idea. An online meme gets taken literally by delusional types and they do dumb things.

Kind of like the election fraud.

Cancelling inauguration rehearsal due to a homeless site catching on fire. How far removed from reality does one have to be?

NYT has a pretty good timeline of the day, with video.

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/202 ... eline.html

People began leaving abut 20 minutes into his speech.

However, I think the real support comes from the people who are on video, in the Senate asking what Trump wants them to do. Or the people that have said after the fact that they were following Trump. It looks like a case can be made that Trumps rhetoric over the past months contributed to it all.

There's no way he gets convicted in the Senate. The best thing to do is ignore him. Like a toddler throwing a tantrum, just ignore them.

A good example of how news outlets spin a story to suit their needs. My local news reported that it was a homeless site, no big deal. The ABC national news, made no mention of what fire actually was. They carefully worded it to make it sound like it was something sinister. National Guard, heightened security, riots, fire.... :ohno: :coffee:
