If Pelosi won’t let the conks put on the committee who they want to, the conks shouldn’t participate. You don’t let the opposing team veto your players, then agree to play the game.

She only has influence. Something she shares with her counterpart in the Senate.
Ms. Pelosi has considerable influence as the speaker, but she is not responsible for the security of Congress. That is the job of the Capitol Police, an agency Ms. Pelosi only indirectly influences. Most decisions about securing the Capitol are made by the Capitol Police Board, a body that consists of the House and Senate sergeants-at-arms and the Architect of the Capitol.

Ms. Pelosi shares control of the Capitol with the Senate majority leader, who at the time was Mitch McConnell, Republican of Kentucky. Republicans have made no attempt to blame Mr. McConnell for the security breach or for failing to prepare for attack.

You also don't let people on the committee who you know will do anything to derail it.

If the GOP were smart, they would've chosen less divisive people. But they aren't that smart. They're playing stupid politics, per usual. You don't put a no talent ass clown like Jim Jordan on a committee like this.

Well, the Dems have Adam Schiff, so I think stupid politics is unfortunately the theme of the day.

Don't forget Jamie Raskin who objected to 10 of Florida's votes in the 2016 election. Isn't that fomenting an insurrection?

Maybe if Trump showed contrition and fake tears, but Kinzinger was the winner here.

Dude's a retired air force pilot and active national guardsmen, and while I disagree with his politics, at least he seems to give a shit about his nation's democracy.

It's amazes me when conservatives can't comprehend...feelings. Not everyone is as jaded as you, even politicians.

You're right, Trump didn't even try to be a person of character and integrity. Only the MAGAtards were stupid enough to fall for his shtick. Kinzinger is a better human and actor.

I honestly hadn't been following this and I didn't even know who Raskin was. But yes, looking back on it, he was a Congressperson who had the temerity to try to block the certification of the election of Trump in 2016. And yes, some Democrats now are saying that voting to decertify an election (as GOP folks did earlier this year and basically as Raskin did with the 2016 vote) was tantamount to supporting insurrection. Heck, that doesn't disturb me as much as Raskin's 25th amendment standing committee bill he proposed awhile back.

BS. You’d just rather see them have Pelosi pawns like Cheyney and Kinzinger who will allow the donks to make this a complete one sided partisan clown show,

And the donks haven’t loaded the committee with ‘no talent ass clowns‘ from the left like Schiff? :dunce:

I agree, but was it a "dark day"? Power was transferred. It lasted a couple hours. One person that wasn't an "insurgent" died (Sicknick).

It was a tremendously dark day. I have trouble coming up one other than maybe 9/11 that was darker in my lifetime.

The John Kennedy assassination is #2 for me all-time, with 9-11 clearly #1.

9/11 was orders of magnitude worse. The BLM/AnTiFa riots are right up there with 1/6 IMO. Chappaquiddick, Watergate, Iran/Contra, and Clinton/Lewinsky are other dark days.
