Parler stupidly used AWS for its servers. They'll be offline until they can move elsewhere as I think AWS said they are pulling the plug on their servers today.

I didn't expect the sm purge to happen until Biden* was in office. I think they jumped the gun a bit.
Their CEO was getting a ton of media attention today. I assumed he was like in his 50s/60s, at least 40s. The guy is 27.. That's like having a 27 year old general.
Meh, poor foresight by Parler. Gab went through this battle months ago and built their own server system (sorry, not a tech guy so maybe there is better terms for use). Gab has been overwhelmed due to the current purge and is expanding its server capabilities.

From the still, the person saying "shows the officer face down as he's being beaten" is baloney, because you can't tell if the person in the CAT sweatshirt, the 2nd person in the gray backpack, and the 3rd person in the green backpack, are trying to help/protect him, or not.
Just stop. Photo from above:

Just stop trying to make excuses for these people or justify what they did in any way.
Just stop. I'm not making excuses for those 3. But don't try to insinuate from that still photo you can make out what the 3 individuals hovered over the officer were doing. YOU CANNOT.

Hey JSO, any comment on one of your beloved Lincoln Project founders being accused of grooming young boys?

I've seen web hosting? (same, not tech guy either) mentioned like Klicked Media https://klicked.com/ and Epik? mentioned. I saw today where someone from Parler acknowledged they might be down for a while, but guaranteed they would be back up soon.

Think due to this current purge we'll see, as the media professor in the below article suggests, an accelerated splintering of the social media world along ideological lines...

Article from lawyer, Ann Althouse. For those who didn't actually watch Trump's speech.

https://althouse.blogspot.com/2021/01/t ... s.html?m=1
There are places where he clearly talked about a peaceful protest march. He says: "I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard." And: "So we’re going to, we’re going to walk down Pennsylvania Avenue... So let’s walk down Pennsylvania Avenue."

But here are the 7 most violent statements. Please, if you can find anything more violent or more related to the idea of breaking into the Capitol and physically disrupting the proceedings, let me know, and I'll add it to the list. This is what I've found and have put in order from least to most violent:
7. We’re going walk down to the Capitol, and we’re going to cheer on our brave senators, and congressmen and women. We’re probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them because you’ll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength, and you have to be strong.
6. To use a favorite term that all of you people really came up with, we will stop the steal…. We will not let them silence your voices.

5. The Republicans have to get tougher. You’re not going to have a Republican party if you don’t get tougher.

4. [W]e’re going to have somebody in there that should not be in there and our country will be destroyed, and we’re not going to stand for that.

3. We will never give up. We will never concede, it doesn’t happen. You don’t concede when there’s theft involved.
2. We’re not going to let it happen. Not going to let it happen.
1. Together we are determined to defend and preserve government of the people, by the people and for the people.

I do love the irony of Leftists/Marxist starting to care about "Blue Lives" all of a sudden...
The better irony/hypocrisy is that Republicans and Democrats have completely flipped the script on each other. Last summer the Dems were saying the protestors were ok and the violence was acceptable, blah blah blah. While the Republicans were saying violence is criminal and you don't loot a Target to make your point. You don't burn buildings to make your point. You obey the law and you'll be ok.

Now it's the opposite. Democrats are denouncing the GOP for their supporters and the GOP is saying, " Yeah , but BLM did it...."

What's worst is that there are people that actually believe that shit. :ohno:

Someone can argue that knowing tempers will run high, telling a group of people to "stand by and stand ready", to "stop the steal", "our country will be destroyed", "get tough" and other phrases of the like, that some can take your words as a call to action. I'd be interested to see where experts land on the speech and it's inspiration. There's already evidence from various sites that there was some planning, or at minimal discussion about storming the Capital and arresting lawmakers. It seems to still be a very fluid situation.

I have no idea what is what on this, as I didn't watch the speech. Just wanted a lawyers point of view on Trump's speech.

Gotta say though, it seems to be a pretty benign speech in regards to "fomenting an insurrection".

I'll make it clearer for you:

Democrats in 2020 - made excuses for protests
Republicans in 2020 - criticized the protests as violent

Democrats in 20201 - criticized the protests as violent
Republicans in 2020 - made excuses for protests

Flipped the script might be accurate. But they've certainly flipped their positions on protests that turn violent/deadly.

I don't think that's accurate. FAR fewer Republicans have made excuses IMO. Seems like 90% are condemning the violence in DC. Over the summer a vast majority of Dems were making excuses.

I think Ibanez point was about calling the protest violent. Protest were not violent, the criminals that broke the laws were violent in both cases. As far as making excuses, that is a different issue. The Minnesota Governor, many times, deplored the criminal element that took advantage of the protest and started the riots and looting. With media and social media circus going full tilt, a lot of the real stuff got lost in the static.

That's correct. But we still deal with the fact that last summer Republicans were angry with the violent protest. Now, they're defending their own violence and using BLM as an excuse. It's unacceptable.

If I ever violently protest, you all can call me out on it.

Condemning is not the same as making excuses.

For example, it’s easy to say 90% of Democrats condemned last summer’s violence and looting....while agreeing with the need for peaceful protests.

I agree with Ibanez on the script flipping just not your numbers based on what I’ve seen and read.

There’s more to the world beyond Cheney and BFE, Maryland.

Suggesting the Republicans have some moral high ground based on numbers of feels here is laughable.

Minnesota Democrats were not defending the violence. I see a lot of people on the right defending the "Partiots" from January 6th, by saying, what about BLM.
