Good find, 88. :thumb:

Tripz has no idea who she is.
I’m just gonna say it right now...BC was the 2nd worst brat pack movie...only slightly ahead of St Elmo’s Fire. Common thread? Ally Sheedy.
OK Kalm, Bench isn't here but maybe we can have a group therapy session to help you get to the root of your dislike for BC. Have a seat in the circle and let's talk. Tell us what you don't like about BC. Does it bring up bad memories or your own high school years?

(I know. Not necessarily all Brat Pack).
My order has Bueller at the top with 16 Candles not far behind, along with BC. Weird Science is fine, but not in the same class. Better off Dead is not in the same class as those movies. I'd throw Can't Buy Me Love up there too, underrated classic (the African ant-eater ritual for instance), The Sure Thing was another good one, not sure if Fast Times is in this genre or not since it came a little before these movies.
Demi Moore was what made St Elmo’s Fire unwatchable IMO

Add Risky Business to the list of good flicks from that period

Probably the only open field tackle we'll see in Portland this year, so may as well enjoy it:

OPB’s article on the matter. Portland doesn’t want the feds. Merkley and Mayor Wheeler are ramping up the political rhetoric. Nothing like cracking some hippie skulls. Are you small government/states rights libertarians ok with this?

As long as the Feds keep to enforcing Federal crimes and protecting Federal property, I'm OK with it. Cause the locals don't seem to be doing it well.

According to reports, they are going beyond just doing that.

If so, then that would be wrong. But reporters are not always understanding of the situation. "Federal crimes" would need to be fully understood first.

Did you read the OPB article? There’s serious smoke there including the Feds admitting to boots on the ground. I also don’t think you’d see public statements from the a Mayor and a US Senator if it was fake news. Then again...politicians.

Didn't read it. But there are Federal Court buildings there and other Federal properties to protect. Also, Federal crimes can cover a bunch of stuff not on those properties.

Read the article. :ohno:

It sounds like they’re not just standing out front of the court house guarding it.

They don’t appear to be doing anything out of the ordinary. The Federal task forces operate in pretty much every metro area. FWIW, I never much liked the task forces, especially the DEA. I refused to cooperate with them in Charleston because they caused more problems than they solved, and we usually took the blame for their shenanigans

For all the moaning over Federal LE overreach and incursions, I don’t think the same people would be complaining if they were snapping up right wingers (which they frequently do)

We’ll see if this newfound criticism of Fed LE continues after Trump is gone - once they start burning out the militias and gun nuts again

You noticed that too? :D

The Mayor, Senator and Governor are appalled by the Fed's actions. Frankly so am I but I'm also appalled by the actions of the the rioters (they're not just protestors) and the state and local government's response to the rioting.
