Been a lot of people on the street giving praise to the Minneapolis Police Chief and officers that testified in the trial.

Same penalty for either 2nd or 3rd degree murder.Winterborn wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 7:30 pmThe third degree and manslaughter will.
Second degree I do not think so. But then I am just an armchair attorney.
That's exactly the defense our politicians use for everything. We can do this b/c Democrats did it. I tell my kid all the time, someone else's bad behavior isn't an excuse for yours.UNI88 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 2:34 pmDid Waters make inflammatory statements? Yes.
Could those statements rile up a protesting mob and lead to a riot? Yes.

Both were wrong. Both should be condemned. Why is one vilified and the other defended? Hint: it's because of politics/ideology not the righteousness of their cause.
And if nodded your head in agreement to Jelly's mockery of "But Hillary" deflections in 2017 then then you should put away your "But Trump" deflections in 2021 and vice versa.
Yeah, we did it but they did it first or worst or whatever is not a valid defense.

I agree. Whattaboutism should be avoided when possible. So should bothsidesdoitism.
1). I pointed out the use of a Posobiec tweet in light of the msm thread. Cross thread jabbing is still allowed, yes? 2). I suggested that racial justice (implying as a cause...not Watters) is a bit more righteous.
I’m sorry I wasn’t more forceful in denouncing a politician being a politician.
Still friends?Cross thread jabbing is still allowed and encouraged but as SD pointed out does the source of an undoctored video matter?
Racial justice is more righteous IMO but that's an opinion and I question whether Waters cares about racial justice .
Definitely still friends.

1- The toxicity in his blood could have led me to have reasonable doubt. But I know drug addicts have extremely high tolerances built up.
2- He was alive when he was put on the ground, regardless of how he got there. And dead when Chauvin got off him.
3- Its ridiculous to think Chauvin didn't have any part in that occurring.
4- I'm pleasantly surprised there was no celebration rioting.
Not per the MN legal code section 609. Murder in the 2nd degree receives not more than 40 years imprisonment. Murder in the 3rd degree has a max of 25 years.Gil Dobie wrote:Same penalty for either 2nd or 3rd degree murder.Winterborn wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 7:30 pm

Under Minnesota sentencing guidelines, for a person with no criminal history, each murder charge carries a presumptive sentence of 12 1/2 years in prison, while manslaughter has a presumptive sentence of four years. Max is different as you stated. I think he get's 25 years because a minor was a witness.Winterborn wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 7:15 amNot per the MN legal code section 609. Edited my post above. I think both play into it but based on a side conversation I had with an attorney this morning my first paragraph definitely applies.Gil Dobie wrote:Under Minnesota sentencing guidelines, for a person with no criminal history, each murder charge carries a presumptive sentence of 12 1/2 years in prison, while manslaughter has a presumptive sentence of four years. I agree with your edit. The judge usually starts with the min for first time offenders, but reviews other circumstances like the minor being present, If Chauvin shows lack of remorse, etc, which can add years to the min sentence.Winterborn wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 7:27 amEdited my post above. It was certainly more tame than expected. kalms people in the PNW still went off like it always does. They are now pivoting to that girl in OH with the knife that got shot by the police now.andy7171 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 6:08 am Just because no one asked, here are my thoughts.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/protes ... se-chamberThe bill would make blocking use of a public street a misdemeanor publishable by up to a year in prison or a $5,000 fine. The measure would also grant a motorist criminal and civil immunity if they kill or injure someone while fleeing from a riot.
