That story makes no sense. It happened three times, but we had our thumbs up our ass and didn't do anything?

Sure seems like something the establishment would have used to show Trump was Xi's puppet.

If it did happen, was our DOD working for China at the time? I'd like to see a name associated with this DOD informant.
See, you're acting stupid on purpose. Obviously they're probes to see if we have any new interesting technology they should be working on stealing. No way we're going to shoot it down with the space lasers and confirm that. :coffee:

Do you not see how Biden looks as feckless as usual, so the media trots out some anonymous official to throw out a logical fallacy? Did critical thinking just drop off a cliff in recent years? See above post.

And ok, you say don’t ahoot down an adversary’s spy aircraft (which is Chicom govt/military) that’s flying over our mitary installations at 60k feet. How about 40k feet? How about 20k feet? Where do you draw the line to shoot it down?
If it's not an immediate danger to people or infrastructure, I wouldn't shoot down an aircraft. It'd be intercepted and escorted; if it evades or deviates from the escort, then further decisions can be made.

As with most anything in life, a violent response should be a last resort. There's almost always a better solution.

I think the US military is nicely handling the balloon incident, and I imagine they're working with better info and expertise than we have.
..and I imagine that the instrument package was picked clean of info long before it approached our airspace.

Ever since I saw a satellite make a 90 degree turn and accelerate to the north a couple of years ago I feel pretty good about what happened to that trillion-odd dollars that Pentagon audits can't seem to account for. :coffee:

Next best is to bring it down over water instead of land - I bet the biggest parts are already on their way to the lab
Yup, shooting it down over territorial waters was the best scenario. It was identified and tracked before it entered the border, we likely warned military sites to hide things before it flew above them, we probably jammed the equipment or even intercepted data transmissions, we didn't risk lives or infrastructure shooting it over land, and now we can safely retrieve and study as much of it as possible.

But I'm sure we'll have our armchair generals tell us why NORAD, Air Force, and the DoD were wrong.

And God bless the men and women who valiantly fought in yesterday's Battle of Myrtle Beach.
Lol there was less risk to lives and infrastructure shooting it down over Alaska than there was of risk of hitting a random fiahing boat or ship a few miles off the coast of SC. It literally crossed over close to 3,000 miles of nothing in Alaska.

And there was certainly no more risk to lives and infrastructure shooting it down over rural areas/fed or state lands of MT, WY, ND, SD, NE, KS, than there was of hitting a boat or ship just off the SC coast.

The Chicom spy balloon flew across:

3. N Dakota (sliver)
4. S Dakota
5. Nebraska
6. Kansas
7. Missouri (sliver)
8. Arkansas
9. Tennessee

Red states flown over 12.
Blue states flown over: 0

Before anyone says GA ain’t red anymore, has a conk gov along with every statewide elected seat, and conks control both houses state legislature, and conks control.

So. a spy balloon from red China programmed to only fly over red states. Hmm…

I heard this question posed on Fri and I never heard an answer. Given it flew over all these red states, could a red state gov have ordered their state’s air national guard to shoot it down? The governor’s do control their national guards unless they have been federalized.

But as soon as Biden allows one to zig zag all over the US for an entire week we have an UNNAMED ‘But Trump!’ (‘Unnamed’ or ‘anonymous’ usually means Fake News)..
Its a good thing that clowns this out-of-touch have been replaced!

The Chicom spy balloon flew across:
1. Alaska
2. Montana
3. N Dakota (sliver)
4. S Dakota
5. Nebraska
6. Kansas
7. Missouri (sliver)
8. Arkansas
9. Tennessee
10. Alabama (sliver)
11. Georgia (sliver)
12. South Carolina

Red states flown over 12.
Blue states flown over: 0

Before anyone says GA ain’t red anymore, has a conk gov along with every statewide elected seat, and conks control both houses state legislature, and conks control.

So. a spy balloon from red China programmed to only fly over red states. Hmm…
Wrong again, per usual. It flew over Illinois. :coffee:

Well that’s because they knew those states would be distracted by drag shows and Antifa rallies on the ground, duh!

(And we coordinated with the jet stream and told our chicomm friends the quickest path was a straight line)
Look at the animation from the 1:28 to 1:39 mark (2nd video above link, not the still pic of the path) It clearly was being manuevered & not following the jet stream.

You don’t think a country that can ship their bad air over here can’t manipulate the jet stream!

Take it up with the above link, 2nd video (Good Morning America), 1:28 to 1:39 mark. Animation line of the track doesn’t show it went over Illinois.
