Of course I have covid...again.

Woke up with a scratchy throat which I didn't think much about, but it developed into a sore throat and very slight cough this morning. Got a rapid test, and then another...both positive. Awesome.

You need to just lock yourself into your condo until this thing is gone.

Seriously. I mean I travel for work and work in the office, but obviously it's tough to pinpoint how I got it.

Hopefully it won't be as bad this time around though. :?

edit: VDH, on behalf of NIH, just contacted me to do an antibody test. Says it's for a study about antibody responses in breakthrough cases.
I get $40 out of it.

After all fighting the good fight takes quite a bit of money.

Why the Met Gala cost $35k to just get in and then one has to consider what to wear. Can't just go with any old outfit but need something that really rises to the occasion and tells a good story. Around $10k should do the trick.

Masks help the hired help to blend into the background and shows their status at an event.

Not sure what the issue is.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is a public museum in New York City.
AOC is a representative in New York City.
She went to something where all the money goes to a service which serves her constituents.

This is literally her job as a public servant.

As for the dress, I'll let her explain it:

"When we talk about supporting working families and when we talk about having a fair tax code, oftentimes this conversation is happening among working and middle class people (on) the senate floor,” she told reporters at the event, according to CNN. “I think it’s time we bring all classes into the conversation,” she said. “The medium is the message.”

I always find that irony is lost on those that most need to hear the message it conveys.

Who paid for her ticket to the event? Was it the organizer? Or was it a sponsor?

AOC: "New York elected officials are routinely invited to and attend the Met due to our responsibilities in overseeing and supporting the city’s cultural institutions for the public."

People had to wear masks indoors, not outdoors. Everyone had to be vaccinated.

I have no idea why some attendants are wearing masks outdoors, but if I were to guess (as someone who served one summer for the Society of the Cincinnati events), it was probably easier to just keep them on since you're constantly running in and out of places.

I believe the ticket and the dress were donated.

But the irony is that AOC, a self-touted champion of the poor and an individual that believes in the idea that everybody should be on a monetarily equal playing field, attends an event that only the very rich can attend, in a dress that costs more than most people clear after taxes in 4+ months.

She used to event to support her "message" in a way that built up her as an individual more. She could of conducted a charity event (I am sure the Met would of been more than happy to accommodate the action due to the positive publicity) that auctioned off the event and a dress to the cause AOC has publicly supported (helping the poor). But she decided to follow in the very socialist and capitalistic tradition of looking out for number 1, herself.

Well it's kinda unfortunate that we need to have these rich people events when you know...we could raise taxes to better support our cultural institutions. In this specific case though, that's on New York City's politicians.

Like I said, AOC could of done both but she picked the most selfish way to show her "support" of her causes. Hence the irony.

I don't have the patience to verify the pics. Doesn't even matter though cause insanely rich people are out of touch.

Tax them.

We also can't forget ignoring the NY City smoking ban inside public places. But that is beside the point, after all there is a pandemic going around.

I agree with you on the insanely rich people suck (majority that is, I have met a few that defy the rule), mainly because they are some of the biggest hypocrites around. So AOC by not making a choice that shows she is serious about her message, is in good company. Reminds me of Trump in many ways.

On a lighter note, looks like you will get your wish, they will be taxed (Biden's new tax plan).

Will be interesting to see if the wealth distribution plan works. If there was only some historical examples we could look at......... :coffee:
