Shame it got political. 97% of new hospitalizations are unvaccinated people. Looks like the Pfizer vaccine may get full FDA approval by Januarykalm wrote: ↑Sun Jul 25, 2021 6:33 am Shocker...conservatives and red states aren’t pulling their own weight...
It’s time for those who willfully refuse the vaccine to hide in their homes and let the rest of us get on with our normal lives.
It’s all about the freedom!
“In April, people in counties that Joe Biden won in 2020 were two points more likely to be fully vaccinated than people in counties that Donald Trump won: 22.8 percent were fully vaccinated in Biden counties; 20.6 percent were fully vaccinated in Trump counties. By early July, the vaccination gap had widened to almost 12 points: 46.7 percent were fully vaccinated in Biden counties, 35 percent in Trump counties. When pollsters ask about vaccine intentions, they record a 30-point gap: 88 percent of Democrats, but only 54 percent of Republicans, want to be vaccinated as soon as possible. All told, Trump support predicts a state’s vaccine refusal better than average income or education level...
Pro-Trump vaccine resistance exacts a harsh cost from pro-Trump loyalists. We read pitiful story after pitiful story of deluded and deceived people getting sick when they did not have to get sick, infecting their loved ones, being intubated, and dying. And as these loyalists harm themselves and expose all of us to unnecessary and preventable risk, publications—including this one—have run articles sympathetically explaining the recalcitrance of the unvaccinated. These tales are 2021’s version of the Trump safaris of 2017, when journalists traveled through the Midwest to seek enlightenment in diners and gas stations...
Compassion should always be the first reaction to vaccine hesitation. Maybe some unvaccinated people have trouble getting time off work to deal with side effects, maybe they are disorganized, maybe they are just irrationally anxious. But there’s no getting around the truth that some considerable number of the unvaccinated are also behaving willfully and spitefully. Yes, they have been deceived and manipulated by garbage TV, toxic Facebook content, and craven or crazy politicians. But these are the same people who keep talking about “personal responsibility.” In the end, the unvaccinated person himself or herself has decided to inflict a preventable and unjustifiable harm upon family, friends, neighbors, community, country, and planet.”

Data from Israel and the UK are backing up his claims. It's a real shame the CDC stopped counting asymptomatic and only those symptomatics who require hospitalization or death.kalm wrote: ↑Sun Jul 25, 2021 6:27 amWell if rando Gordon Chang’s friends are saying it, it must be true!SeattleGriz wrote: ↑Sun Jul 25, 2021 5:56 am I thought the guy, Gordan Chang, was sensationalizing the breakthrough cases when he said that his doctor friends were telling him that 50-60% of their COVID positive patients were previously vaccinated - I even said so about 20 pages ago, but it's looking more and more like he was correct.
Now we see why Biden had to "correct" the Pfizer CEO when he mentioned they were getting ready for a booster for Delta.
Definitely makes it hard to get an idea of what is happening with the vaccines.

Do you have a link that provides the data on that? I keep reading that, but can never find an article with data. The best indicator: U.S. hospitalizations and deaths are nearly all among the unvaccinated, and real-world data from Britain and Israel support that protection against the worst cases remains strong. What scientists call “breakthrough” infections in people who are fully vaccinated make up a small fraction of cases.

Now where is the actual data on these people, because if the vaccinated make up a small fraction of the cases, that means the total is likely small as well. What is their hospitalization status as well?

No shit? I thought I was being stopped.
I’ve been out and about all I want while taking precautions to protect me and my community.
I don’t like lockdowns either.
You’re trying too hard to act tough. You sound scared...or not smart enough to appreciate what’s happened. But I’m willing to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you’re just scared and rely upon others to do the heavy lifting.

More and more Republican leaders now finding religion...
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/202 ... 27FVo8a2qMThe Republican governor of Alabama has said it is “time to start blaming the unvaccinated folks” for rising cases of Covid-19, amid concern that months of misinformation over the need and efficacy of vaccines is fueling a resurgence of coronavirus infections in several states.
Kay Ivey said that vaccines are “the greatest weapon we have to fight Covid” and added that a surge in new cases of the coronavirus in Alabama is due to a reluctance among many people in the state to get inoculated.
Only about a third of eligible people in Alabama have got a vaccine shot, one of the lowest rates in the US.
“Folks are supposed to have common sense,” said the Alabama governor. “But it’s time to start blaming the unvaccinated folks, not the vaccinated folks. It’s the unvaccinated folks that are letting us down.”
Ivey added that nearly all the new hospitalizations and deaths due to Covid are unvaccinated people. “These folks are choosing a horrible lifestyle of self-inflicted pain,” she said.

Re: Coronavirus COVID-19
My employer mandated the vaccine today. They didn't list a consequence for not complying, but we are to provide proof of vaccination for one dose by September 1, and two doses by October 1 if you get the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine.
The only way to get out of it is a doctor's letter saying you're unable to be vaccinated due to health issues with the vaccines, but no religious or personal reasons will be considered.
They cited health/safety of employees, increased strength of delta variant, potential loss of productivity, and the "now proven" vaccine as reasons for the new policy.

https://www.cnn.com/2021/07/25/politics ... index.htmlThe ex-President did tell his supporters to get the vaccine on Saturday — but in such a way that offered an out for those who have bought into conservative misinformation about it -- and in an attack on Biden, he further politicized the issue. Yet again, Trump showed that he was not willing to diminish his own political capital for the greater good.
"I recommend that you take it, but I also believe in your freedoms 100%," Trump said, before adding, "because they don't trust the President, people aren't doing it."
Trump talking on both sides of the issues and blaming Biden for the reason people aren't getting vaccinated (which I'm not sure how that is, but I'm sure he has proof). And we call UNI88 a fence straddler.
Trump is the main importer of distrust. I'm not sure why anyone would believe him. He's off his rocker if he thinks Republicans and alt-righters like BDK aren't getting the vaccine (which Trump takes credit for getting to the market so quickly) b/c of Biden. I'm not sure of the logic there.
