Yep. Gotta take personal responsibility to ensure your safety and not rely on John Q Public. :thumb:

Had a good discussion on that matter this weekend over beers. Very entertaining to see wokenistas/caronabros get triggered by a "personal responsibility" approach to this China virus.
Personal responsibility with an obligation towards community.
my obligations to myself and my family come first. If those conflict with the "community" obligations, oh well.

That's why if I was a small business owner I probably would have spent some time in jail over the past year, like those dudes in Jersey or that hairdresser in Dallas.

How many deaths are acceptable to you? :-o
Why is abortion still tolerated but the old and weak dying from the China virus not?
That's not acceptable either.

Mine too. As SD points out it depends on your idea of obligations.

Sure, it's like infrastructure, you can make it mean anything you want and not technically be wrong. Not sure how that's helpful though. :coffee:

GannonFan wrote: Tue Apr 13, 2021 5:03 am US is pausing vaccinations using the J&J vaccine due to blood clots. Listen, I get that you want to be absolutely careful with the vaccines, but right now they have 6 cases of blood clots in more than 7 million doses of the vaccine. That's basically less than a one in a million chance of developing blood clots from this (and all 6 cases were females between 18 and 49). When supposedly the chances of catching and dying from COVID are higher than the chance of having a negative reaction to the vaccine, doesn't the math and science point to continuing the vaccine?

https://abcnews.go.com/US/us-calls-halt ... e_hero_hed

I'm of the opinion now that everytime someone utters the phrase "out of an abundance of caution" it's because they can't support what they're doing with facts or science but they are operating in the COYA mode, reality be damned.
Could be out of precaution due to the blood clot issue in the European vaccine, but I agree, keep injecting as many people with whatever they want so long as they want it.
Well, it's the same type of vaccine as the Astra-Zeneca one, so it's reasonable to think there could be blood clots. But like I said, the supposed danger of dying from the virus is so much higher than the danger of dying from the vaccine that it doesn't really seem to be prudent to stop the vaccine. That's like saying we shouldn't spray water on a house fire because the person inside could drown. Of course, they'll still just burn, but I guess at least you didn't do the thing that caused their death, or something like that. :suspicious:

Cooperation could mean anything from two people to all 6 billion people in the world. Kalmie is very expansive with his definition so not to technically be tied down to any particular view or position. Why he's not already the mayor of the Palouse is beyond me.

Guess what? That ref that collapsed during the NCAA champ game? He'd just gotten a vaccine shot. And suffered a blood clot to the lung. :suspicious: :suspicious: :coffee:

He also had Covid in the fall or so. Unclear if Covid caused it, the vaccine, or something else (at least last I saw).

That's not the kind of clot they are saying the vaccine could be causing - they say it's the cerebral venous sinus thrombotic clot, so, in the brain. Of course, those happen about 5 in a million every year, so a little more than 5x than what's happening here in these vaccine cases, but again, why let math and science get in the way of other math and science. :coffee:

Qarens close a restaurant ...

Portland pizza restaurant closes over weekend after staff say couple refuses to wear masks
“Then they became like really aggressive. They tried to come behind the counter, take other people’s pizzas. The man picked up my employee’s drink and spit into it," he said.

The owner said they stayed for close to an hour and threatened to come back. O'Connor decided to stay closed on Friday.

"We had actually also been closed up until two weeks ago for about two months because our oven broke. So we had just reopened again, and Friday is the busiest night of the week, and I was kind of worried about scaring people away too, and they’re going like, “What is going on down there?" he said.

Unless the owners were Italian, they should be shut down for cultural appropriation, just like the girls with the taco truck were shut down.
