Just voted for the progressive candidate (Zainab Mohsini) in the DNC primary for Virginia's 11th district.

Glad someone challenged Gerry Connolly this year...gotten tired of him jerking off the military contractors in the area.

I doubt she'll win, but who knows...an AOC-style surprise would make my day.

Mohsini’s aspirations to join The Squat go down the tubes: Connolly 70, Zainab 30.

Veteran Foreign Affairs Committee chair Eliot Engel of NY lost his House primary to a young black Progtard named Bowman, who will likely be the first cisgendered male member of The Squat.

They got marginalized pretty quickly by the establishment Reps years ago. Might as well align with someone who wants change, and isn't going to be a milquetoast like Paul Ryan.

I saw, but I'll wet myself when we're debating the future of America after President Ocasio-Cortez and the Democratically controlled Congress sign the Green New Deal into law, and it's affirmed by SCOTUS thanks to the five Biden appointees.

Except the Freedom Caucus did a 180 on most of its so-called principles when it flipped to Trump. Tariffs and small government, to name two. And a supermajority of the Caucus originally backed Ryan for Speaker after Boehner left.

My point, which I didn't do a good job of making is that the establishment Republicans weren't ever going to help the Tea Party. Trying to find the article that goes in depth to how the Tea Party lost its "mojo" to the establishment Reps.

Virginia to become the first southern state to abolish the death penalty, on top of all the progressive measures passed since Democrats took the state in 2019. Virginia is actually becoming one of the most progressive states in the union.

Recreational marijuana has been legalized today too. Northam still has to sign, but it's expected he does.

This General Assembly has been one of the most productive - if not the most - I've ever experienced living in Virginia my whole life. These representatives are literally doing the things they ran on and what voters sent them to do. Pretty refreshing.

I would be too IF it was replaced by life sentence/zero chance of parole, with NOTHING other than a cell, 3 meals a day, and gulag type HARD labor. But instead life sentence = still chance of parole in most states, with the nicest prisons in the world.

Beyond a reasonable doubt is not a stringent enough burden of proof. Death penalty should require beyond a shadow of a doubt.
