I guess cons don't care about the tapes with Trump and Parnas, the man he allegedly didn't know? Ah who am I kidding, the whole impeachment episode has proven without a doubt how corrupt the GOP is.

Over dozens of pages, Mr. Bolton described how the Ukraine affair unfolded over several months until he departed the White House in September. He described not only the president’s private disparagement of Ukraine but also new details about senior cabinet officials who have publicly tried to sidestep involvement.

For example, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo acknowledged privately that there was no basis to claims by the president’s lawyer Rudolph W. Giuliani that the ambassador to Ukraine was corrupt and believed Mr. Giuliani may have been acting on behalf of other clients, Mr. Bolton wrote.

Mr. Bolton also said that after the president’s July phone call with the president of Ukraine, he raised with Attorney General William P. Barr his concerns about Mr. Giuliani, who was pursuing a shadow Ukraine policy encouraged by the president, and told Mr. Barr that the president had mentioned him on the call. A spokeswoman for Mr. Barr denied that he learned of the call from Mr. Bolton; the Justice Department has said he learned about it only in mid-August.

And the acting White House chief of staff, Mick Mulvaney, was present for at least one phone call where the president and Mr. Giuliani discussed the ambassador, Mr. Bolton wrote. Mr. Mulvaney has told associates he would always step away when the president spoke with his lawyer to protect their attorney-client privilege.
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/26/us/p ... raine.html

Also, Parnas has other recordings at the White House and plans to release them. What a sh*t show for national security (but her emails!). Additionally, the first recording proved how easily influenced the President is, and how many people he's got surrounding him trying to peddle their personal interests over America's.

edit: BTW, f*ck Bolton. He didn't make it public or raise the alarm when it happened; instead he divorces himself from patriotism so he can cash in on the truth. Truly a Republican.

Did you actually listen to the Parnas tapes? They actually help Trump. Nice attempt at a Covington Catholic move.

Both major parties are corrupt and have been for a LOOONG time. You just have to wade through the shit and side with who's most likely to support the issues you care most about. Like, if you want socialism, higher taxes, confiscation of property in violation of the Constitution, prejudicial treatment of straight Christian white men, and government control over every aspect of your life, then the Democrats are your folks.

The whole thing. Your statement would be laughable if it wasn't a testiment to how brainwashed you've become.

Can't wait to hear the rest of the tapes.

I listened to the highlights of the tape. Team Trump can make a case that by "get rid of her" he meant fire her. It also doesn't coincide date wise with the warnings Yovanovitch received to get out for her own safety.

Two things that do stand out are 1) why would Trump have shared that he wouldn't have directed Parnas to fire her he probably would have told Rudy or somebody to do it, and 2) Rudy claims he didn't know Parnas at the time of the taping and was not at the dinner.

Is that how ambassadors are normally fired? By the president's personal attorney or a Ukrainian tied campaign donor? :suspicious: :suspicious:

I thought Rudy was described by Trump as working on his own in this capacity and for other clients. :suspicious: :suspicious: :suspicious:

If only there was some way to compel all three to testify under oath or something.
Trump, in comments on Fox News on Friday night after the first clips of the recording emerged, said he was “not a fan” of former Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch and believed she was unpopular in Ukraine. But he said he wouldn’t have directed Parnas to fire her, instead saying, “I probably would’ve told Rudy, or somebody.”

Asked if it was possible he was at the dinner with Parnas, Trump replied, “Sure.”

“But you have to understand, I see thousands of people,” Trump said. “I just left Florida where I was shaking hands, taking pictures with hundreds and hundreds of people in one night.” On Saturday, Rudy Giuliani told Jeanine Pirro on Fox News that he was not present at the April 2018 dinner and added that he did not know Parnas at the time of the taping.

Yeah, me too.

Don't be angry Trump has been surveiled and undermined since before he became POTUS and nothing has stuck. If anything, it's a testament that he really hasn't crossed the line in much of anything.

I listened to Trumps defense team during my commute this evening. I haven’t heard a single defense of the President. Just a bunch of pearl clutching and groaning over Hunter Biden. A good distraction for their dumber than rocks base.

That may be, but are we saying Hillary was surveiled and undermined like Trump?

I always viewed Hillary as knowing pretty much exactly what would get her in trouble. She always has worked through lawyers to add that later of deniability. I don't like it, but if I had the means I'd employ it as well.

I guess that's somewhat of my point for Trump as well, he's guilty of shit that grates the average Joe, but all done legally through lawyers and accountants.

The reason that nothing has "stuck" to Trump is because he had a corrupt Attorney General in place when the Mueller Report came out. That corrupt Attorney General mischaracterized the conclusions of the report as well as what Mueller said with respect to the effect of the Justice Department's interpretation about indicting a sitting President. Then he graciously offered his opinion that Trump did not obstruct justice. Shocker.

Meanwhile more than 1,000 former Federal prosecutors from both major political parties signed onto a statement saying Trump did obstruct justice.

Trump has a completely corrupt Republcian Party protecting him. And with respect to what Hen93 said about both parties being corrupt: At this point in history the Republican Party is WAY more corrupt than the Democrat Party is. It's really, really bad.

Both parties fit that description. ;)

And it was never about "defense of the President", you need to drag it along long enough that when it gets voted down one can say that it wasn't rushed through and we spent x amount of time on it. Just normal politics.

Most people have their mind made up already and how many of those that don't are actually listening to the proceedings? My guess is very few and the Republicans know that the few they loose, by their handling in the Senate, they would of probably lost anyway to some other news.

I think not - not after Trump's vehement denial of knowing Parnas :coffee:

I can see a few Donks from purple or red states voting not guilty on one article. People like Jones from AL, Manchin from WVA, and Sinema from AZ. But I predict that no Donk Senator will vote no on both articles.
