RIP - Seattle

Just got back from five days in Seattle. Cover your ears Chizzy.

Lovely city, great town. Lots of cool shit to do. The city itself is VERY welcoming....

The people - :x
The food - :thumb:
The prices...of everything -

We stayed at the Westin in downtown. Beautiful hotel right in the middle of everything. We got there early on Wednesday and were hungry so we took to the streets. Walked west for about a block and ate at a little Cantina on the corner of Lenora and 5th Ave....great burrito snack basket BTW. After, we walked up Lenora about half a block, and we get to see our first syringe laying on the sidewalk. It was literally laying between two city workers and they didn't dare pick it up or anything. :? All in all, we got to see two protests and a mini-riot in just five short days.

I was at a national conference that was hosted by the state of Washington. This gave me a chance to talk to quite a few of the locals. According to them, the city is booming. Booming so much that the locals and natives are being forced out of the city due to the exploding cost of living. As with most any good boom, they are feeling the pain of skyrocketing homelessness and crime rates as well. Its really sad when our hosts had to warn us to not go out alone at night and avoid the overly aggressive homeless people. :ohno:

Aside from the rain on Friday, the weather was wonderful. It was a nice break from the 90 degree weather we've been having in Georgia. What I don't understand is why are all the locals wearing their best North Face and Patagonia arctic gear while is was so nice outside? I'm wearing shorts and a tshirt and these people are wearing boots, puffy coats, sweaters, scarves, and skull caps :?

Yup...
Me and the Girlfriend can't wait to get the hell out of here
It's turned into a nice place to visit and a horrible place to live

As I've said already - were it not for the salaries here we'd have been gone last year
It's a lot like Los Angeles and San Francisco now, the only reason to stay is the money
but once we're gone we'll only come back to "visit"

I reap the benefits of the boom, but don't live in the city.

It’s pretty much always been a horrible place to live....and I only visit when I have to.

Yeah. Why even visit? I can see a fish thrown across a counter in Rehoboth Beach. :coffee:

When we were there 5 years ago, I got perturbed by parking situation. They gouge the crap out of visitors there.

Did enjoy Pike St market, and went to a Mariners game (nice stadium). We drove up to Canada and stayed over in Bellingham 2 nights, Victoria is very nice too.

We also went to an animal preserve outside of Taco a, which was probably the highlight of the trip.

Everyone should just move to Red States. Oklahoma, Mississippi, Kansas, North Dakota....those are the places to be!

Throwing lesbians across a counter is cruel. :ohno:

Like I keep telling you guys, Eastern Wa is where it's at. Stopped in Wilbur, WA for breakfast and a roady yesterday. Had a delicious sausage/egg, cheese, deep fried sausage shaped thingy for $.99. No aggressive homeless, no syringes, affordable home prices.

Image

Then stopped in Coulee Dam at Pepper Jack's Bar and Grill. Had the patty melt and old school salad bar for around $10. Again, no aggressive homeless, no syringes, affordable home prices.

Be sure to stay behind in any of the sanctuary cities (illegals, homeless, whatever), then
