Faith can influence politics but it doesn't always.kalm wrote: ↑Tue Jan 24, 2023 12:16 pmReligion often equates to political beliefs. Sorbo is a very public figure and just like athletes in the limelight, puts himself out there. No rocks were uncovered to discover his politics. And let’s not pretend the religious right doesn’t have a ton of political influence.UNI88 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 24, 2023 11:45 am
Religious beliefs ≠ political beliefs.
How is mocking someone's religious beliefs different than mocking someone's race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, etc? And before you give me religious beliefs are a choice argument, isn't religion a protected class deserving of the same protections?
I'm not above mocking religious figures such as Jerry Falwell Jr but I mock them for their actions, greed and hypocrisy not because they're religious. Just like I mock Al Sharpton not because he's African American but because of what he says and does.
Sidenote: let's not forget about Bernsen in LA Law.
Unless you truly believe his politics are separate from his faith…
Mitt Romney is a Mormon. Mormons tend to be very conservative. Illiberals hate Mormons but they give Romney a pass. Why? More importantly, why do you assume that all evangelicals are worthy of mockery.
FYI - at some point in the future, I'm going to mock evangelicals and my posts on this thread are going to bite me in the ass. I'm calling it now.
