How dare the incoming head of the NSA talk to the Russians about sanctions! The horror.

Flynn got the boot because the coverup was worse than the non-crime. He talked to the Russians. He lied to the VP about it. The VP went on national TV and said Flynn didn't talk to the Russians. Illegal leaks came out and provided proof he did. Flynn lied to and embarrassed the VP. Flynn was given the boot.

That was kinda my thinking....if there was anyone who should be discussing sanctions with Russia, it's this guy and a few others.

As far as the Russian angle goes, I don't give a sh1t. The Saudis and many other oppressive, wimmen hatin' countries were openly backing Hillary and not one Lib gave a crap. Some of the clowns in the British government were, during the election, openly calling for a ban that would not allow Trump to come to their country (a travel ban ) and yet we heard not one word of condemnation regarding election influence of foreign countries from the Left.

Russian oppressive government and leaders = bad = sanctions
Saudi oppressive government and leaders = OK = billions of dollars of arms sales and oil

Russia sends troops into neighboring historically Russian Crimea territory (where they had a naval base) after the West helps oust democratically elected Ukraine president = bad and sanctions

Saudis send troops into neighboring Bahrain (where we have a naval base) to crush a majority uprising against a non-elected minority oppressive government = OK and billions of trade

Russia helps maintain Syrian democratically elected, leader = bad and sanctions
Saudis helps democratically ousted Yemen leader = OK and assistance to continue civil war

Assad uses barrel bombs to bomb civilians = bad, sanctions, attempts to remove him from power, and loud US pronouncements, attempting to paint a picture of us leading a world united against the evil of barrel bombs
King Salman uses barrel bombs to bomb civilians = US continued support, and the statement that the US has not signed off on the agreement about limiting barrel bombs so that we do not fall under those guidelines

Russian bomb hospitals = bad, intentional, inhumane Russian tactics = sanctions
US bombs hospital in Afghanistan = mistake
Saudis bomb hospitals, while US has people in the Saudi operations center helping to identify bombing targets = "Well, we only help them pick out targets, we do not actually prioritize those targets"

Seriously, you can't make this stuff up.

The thing was that he was a private citizen at the time and apparently the communications sounded like he was negotiating with the Russians. You can't do that and you certainly shouldn't lie about it when confronted. He had to know that his calls were being monitored.
