The title is self-explanatory. There are things I want to comment on but really don't want to make new threads on. If you have a small item you want to quip or comment on but don't want a new thread on it here you can post it too.

This is bullshit. I have accepted gay marriage, and I have accepted the legalization of pot.
But I'm putting my foot down on this.

I wouldn't know what little girls hope for. Is this what your girls told you?

Founder of J. Geils Band facing drunken driving charge
Police say John Warren Geils Jr. was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol and failing to stop at a sign following a crash in Concord at about 1 p.m. Tuesday. No one was hurt.

Geils was the lead guitarist of band, which was founded in the late 1960s but reached its pinnacle in the early 1980s with the hit songs "Love Stinks," ''Freeze-Frame" and "Centerfold."
My blood runs cold. :coffee:

11 fans? I wonder what marketing plan was put in place that grew its fanbase by 693%. :coffee:

Liz (not the lez) Cheney won the Republican Primary for our only House seat last month by only garnering 21% of the vote, and is now facing unknown Democrat nominee Ryan Greene in the general election. Recent polling shows Cheney at just under 50% among likely voters who at the same time said they knew almost nothing about Greene.

This is Wyoming folks, the single most red state in the union..

When name recognition works against you.

Which is why I plan on legally changing my name to Michael before I ever consider running for political office.

Laundry Matters in Charleston, South Carolina looks like a traditional laundromat with aisles of washers and dryers. But hidden in the back is something surprising: a classroom.
Every Tuesday since March, the backroom of this nondescript laundromat has held free after-school computer science classes for neighborhood kids.
The program, called CodeON -- short for Coding in Our Neighborhoods -- brings basic tech education to kids ages 8 to 10 in one underserved community in Charleston's Eastside.
"Charleston has pockets of neglected neighborhoods where families are seriously struggling," said Carolyn Finch, one of the founders of CodeON.

That's great, but 8-10? So the beneficial results won't be seen for another 10-15 years?
How about a more immediate impact? Why not 15-20 year olds? Let them be the role models for the 8-10's.

I clicked on a Rawstory article this morning on how Playboy has their first ever woman wearing a hijab on the cover only to find Playboy no longer features nude photographs.

Worst...article...ever...

That's a good question. I would suspect it's a good starting point.

Certainly better than nothing. By a long shot. But it seems there could be a route for a more immediate impact by including older kids.
