Can they move out now?

Read the comments. I think some people might dislike the Obamas.

Race baiting pieces of shit. The act has really gotten old. The Obama presidency was not only a race-healing opportunity wasted, but it actually set us way, way back.

What an ignorant fat bitch. Nobody cares what her fat American hating ass has to say anyway.

She is one person that deserves AIDS but I would not wish HER on that virus EVER. Pure human garbage

This.

I've made that argument to a lot of people, that race relations now are likely at 1960's levels. Even though slavery in the US has been over for 150 years I think it will somehow still be an issue 100 years from now.

Curious...
I was under the impression from my schoolin' that the White House was indeed built by slaves...
Is that NOW not correct - if so - we need to edit a whole bunch of Historical documents

:coffee:

and why does this make anybody angry..? (The Hate ^ there is strong)
I feel nothing when I watch her speech

2+2=4

These things are just pieces of data I wouldn't get too wrapped up in them

I guess the point is, since that part of our history is well known, and since slavery ended over 150 years ago in this country, at what point do negros stop using slavery as an excuse for their poor performance as a socioeconomic group? A black person born the same year as me has had the same opportunity to succeed, in addition to preferential educational funding, college admissions, and hiring.

Am I supposed to feel sorry for them?

One persons reality and experience is different than another's
Why get so worked up over a FACTUAL piece of historical information..?

I didn't hear her mention the part where we were all supposed to feel sorry for anybody

and people will use whatever excuses they need to use
it's human nature - I wouldn't get too invested in what excuses this person is using vs. that person

Wow, talk about mountain out of a mole hill. Sounds to me like she was using it as a reference point in talking about how far we've come as a country.

But of course, the angry old white guy contingent and mouth breathers on youtube never miss a chance to get their panties in a wad about something. :coffee:

Let's try this as an example: It's called Child Psychology
Instead of responding like a 4 year old to everything that horribly offends us
"How dare that person say slaves built the white Hose when slavery ended 150 years ago"

Try this:
"Yes, slavery was a part of the American story, look how far we've come in 150 years... "
"Interesting to note many cultures today still use class systems that existed thousands of years ago and have still not found a way to move forward... But here in America only 150 years after slaves built the white house a black family occupies that home... Isn't that wonderful"

See how that works...

:coffee:

Please explain, out of all the "FACTUAL pieces of historical information" available, the reason why she chose THAT one. :tap:

I'd mention how I heard somewhere recently that white families have an average net worth of something like $150,000 whereas black families are $11,000 but I wouldn't want to get yelled at.

To get you and the rest of the "fully on guard" Negro Watch all worked up..?

It perpetuates the idea that we have to constantly talk about slavery and race. Jews, South Americans, Chinese, Irish, Italians, Canadians, misc. Europeans, etc.. have all, for the most part, gotten over the injustice that thier ancestors suffered under and have progressed.

Notice that I left out a certain group. One of my best friends is from Newark, NJ. I've been there when other black people would get mad at him because he would say he doesn't get worked up over slavery, etc... When asked how he could forget what his ancestors suffered, he would usually say something to the effect of, " I don't forget, but I don't brood over it. It happened to them. Not to me."

It's a mentality. Nobody alive today was ever a slave. In fact, we're getting to the point where nobody alive had ever interacted with a freed slave. Young people today have every opportunity to achieve success. Many men and women work hard and get out of bad neighborhoods. So, for them to blame it on that (lack of opportunity) is bullshit, to me. If others can do it, they can. There's no lack of opportunities. Just an unwillingness to work for it.

I'm white. 4th of 5 children. My parents struggled. Nothing was handed to me. I worked my ass off. I failed many times. I worked to get where I am today. I worked my ass off to more than triple my salary in 6 years. That wasn't because I white. It was because I took advantage of the opportunities that were there. Opportunities that people of various race, creed, heritage also have afforded them. :twocents:

I'd support the occupy movement if they'd go and occupy a job position.

I agree with that. We have a black man leading the free world. That's a pretty damn good sign of progress.

It's just a shame he screwed the pooch.

Yes, I believe I already mentioned that negros struggle as a socioeconomic group, despite all the advantages provided for them that I and my children were/will not be afforded.

Maybe the White House before the War of 1812 when it was totally destroyed by fire by British troops, and certainly not in 1952, when the inside of the White House was totally demolished and rebuilt.

So that ^ Changes that fact that the White House was built by slaves..?
She didn't say it was burned down by slaves or that it was "remodeled by slaves"

She said:
Built by slaves - which is a fact...

So I'm not sure which part of history you'd like to re-write Baldy

It's not a rewriting. It's a clarification. The original White House was built by slaves.

The White House, as it stands today was not. Only the exterior can claim that status.

Okay...
So you are reiterating my point
THE White House was built by slaves
Burnt down by Red Coats
and Remodeled by Contractors in the 50's

It's ^ a little cumbersome for a graduation speech
but I see the HUGE value in that for your fragile sensitive personal feelings on the matter

(Thank you)
