Constitutional Question

For you scholars out there...like JSO.

Is the impeachment process restricted to "high crimes and misdemeanors" committed while in office?

If not, I could see the GOP in the House immediately going after Hillary. Same said for the Dems if Trump is elected. Not sure there would be enough support either way in the Senate to support a conviction, but I could see something like that happening.

Won't happen if Sanders completes his improbable comeback. As Commie as he seems to be, unless someone produces something legit proving that actually IS a member of the Party (and not just a sympathizer), there's nothing to go on for the impeachment of Sanders yet. There's PLENTY of ammunition for going after Hillary and Trump, though. Of course, as with Obama, it might be wise to wait until the running mates are determined. If the crook living in the Naval Observatory is worse than the crook in the Oval Office, you may as well leave it alone....

I'll just say, as I've said before, that I could understand if the Democrats decided they need to find a way to go with Sanders. He's still beating the crap out of Trump in the polls and he doesn't have all the baggage. There's something to be said for the argument that he hasn't really been attacked like Clinton has. But then again he hasn't done some of the stupid crap Clinton has done. I guess Trump could try to attack him on his policies but that's not what Trump does. If Trump tries to argue substance he'll get killed. At least that's what I think. The only thing that gives Trump any chance at all is all the Clinton baggage.

I think it's good that Sanders is still competing because he gives the Democrats a fall back. But I do wish he'd quit the inflammatory stuff on Clinton because she's probably going to be the nominee. He doesn't need to do what he's doing.
