Liberal comedians. Is there really such a thing?

They are being called out on their hypocrisy. In order to get laughs, you usually have to make someone a victim of the joke. For years, so called liberal comedians made fun of whites and conservatives...just like some folks used to make Polish jokes, gay jokes, fat jokes, etc. But, the field of acceptable joke targets is narrowing to nothing as people realize that so-called Liberals are as intolerant as conservatives.

The religious do not actually believe they are persecuted. They took that page from the playbook because of how uncritically and credulously people are about any narrative of some group being a victim of society. The oppression olympics can be really lucrative if you can manage to win.
