After three decades and nearly $2 billion in federal spending wasted on this failed approach, the President’s proposed budget increases support for programs and efforts that seek to equip young people with the skills they need to ensure their lifelong sexual health and well-being.

Eh, not convinced in this country that it'll make a real difference one way or the other in terms of unwanted pregnancies. We have a special kind of dumb in the US, and it crosses the political aisle, and we can have kids with health classes where they pass around all the different kinds of birth controls and yet still later on they'll not use one and be shocked at the resulting pregnancy. Still the right thing to do, though.

Well said. It won't make a difference in our over-sexed and high sexualized culture. It's not a bad idea to teach abstinence only (which the parents should do) but we are intelligent enough to know that kids will not listen to Mom and Dad so the best option is to educate them on the preventive measures.

I'm sure some mom will cry foul at this(and probably a Republican mother) and to her I say: Don't rely on the government to teach your child YOUR values.
