GDT: Saudi Arabia vs. Iran

So the Saudi's, our "allies" execute a bunch of people including a shia cleric for speaking out against the monarchy. Saudi Arabia is the birth place of wahhabism, and key funding source for the madrasas that fuel it as well as a shit-ton of terrorist activity including ISIS.
Iran has funded terrorism itself although it seems to be less on a global scale. Iran just appointed it's first female ambassador abroad since the 1979 uprising.
Who ya rootin' for?

SA by three touchdowns
+/- 2 million
SA has 80% of the muslim world and the U.S. on their side.
Remember, bet with your mind, not your heart.

I may parlay that with a Peshmerga victory at Mosul.

This is just the latest chapter in what I have been saying all along
(maybe clitsaurus has too in a way)
those people are just in the latest chapter of a 900 year civil war... and if we don't get involved they won't notice us (too much)
just leave them to their own devices and they will thin each other out in ways we could only dream of

Yup - the Shiites and the Sunni's have been going at it since Muhammad died. Heck, the famous Battle of the Camel took place in 656!

you don't sound as "the sky is falling zomg republicans" as usual
but you are making light of what I said- do you disagree that a historical component overshadows everything in the muslim Middle East?

Not really making light - The Battle of the Camel was actually one of the first battles between Shi'as and Sunni's, with Sunni's (Mohammad's wife A'isha loosing.
The Persian/Arab conflict predates Islam in many ways, and we can only make matters worse by interfering.
The Saudi wahhabism is at this point more dangerous to the Western world than Persian Twelvism.

Well said 89 - this is like a battle between 2 NFC East teams other than the Eagles - I root for injuries. Kinda makes me sad we signed a nuke deal with Iran now. Can we still get out of it?

Why would that make you sad now?
Saudi Arabia beheaded a religious leader for speaking out against a tyrannical regime. I like it that Iran is calling out their bullshit. Someone needs to.

Both parties need oil prices to rise and this conflict will help serve that purpose.
I'll take Iran for long-term strategic importance. We need to get some weapons salesmen over there pronto so they don't buy from somebody else.
