Question for the Gun Aware

Do you consider four guns and a thousand rounds a huge arsenal?
This of course relates to the San Bernie shooting, but in general, would that be an unusual amount of ammo?
Before your kayaks capsized and your guns and ammo sank, of course.

I have shot a thousand rounds before on a Saturday morning, so no.

I think it was the 12 pipe bombs that really made it an arsenal. 10, sure. But fucking TWELVE!?!?!

That is true - but even before the pipe bombs were found, there was a lot of talk in media about the huge arsenal of guns and ammo found.
I would guess for gun enthusiasts, 4 guns and a couple thousand rounds isn't uncommon.

I think I have that in each of my vehicles......
Seriously though, I don't consider 4 guns and a thousand rounds of ammo a huge arsenal. The IEDs and pipe bombs put this in a whole different realm though.
As far as the San Bernie thing, the minute I saw the dudes name, I knew what the problem was. This was a terrorist act and it needs to be called such. I don't care what the PC thing to say is, we should be at war with radical Islam and on the lookout for peaceful Islam.

You want an honest answer from me?
That's nothing.
I'd say a real gun enthusiast with a six figure income could easily have 50 rifles/shotguns, 20 handguns, and 20,000 rounds of ammo and not really think much of it. Just throwing out numbers.

Thanks - that is what I was kinda thinking - I am sure I could go to thousands (if not tens of thousands) of homes just in Arizona and find larger amounts of guns and ammo.

That is not what I would consider an arsenal.
Hell, my Dad and I aren't what I would consider "enthusiasts" but leaning behind the TV in the corner of the den at my home in NC were always at least 5-6 long guns, loaded. We needed an assortment depending on what we were about to walk out in the backyard and shoot : deer, squirrel, groundhog, or person. (Shotgun w slugs, 22 Marlin, .243 Remington, or M1 carbine)

Four guns and a couple thousand rounds is EXACTLY what I have...and no, I don't consider that an "arsenal". In fact, I consider it short about 5,000 rounds.

I'm not arguing it was an arsenal, but there's probably a considerable difference between Mayberry and San Bernadino. If you had that stash say in Manhattan...

How about in a townhouse in Germantown, MD?

Depends on your religion and color of skin.

For gun enthusiasts, it's not that big of a deal. However, I don't think Farook and the Saudi slut were enthusiasts. I don't believe they shot guns for sport or pleasure. That 4,000 rounds of ammo (the last number I heard) was for killing people. That's one hell of a difference to me.

12 meant they were showing off.

I have two handguns and maybe 800-1000 rounds, mostly range ammo. Given that one is a 1911 with two 8 round magazines and the other has two 18 round magazines, I may have to call a timeout to reload if I ever get into a protracted gunfight.

Pretty sure that is covered by the Geneva Convention.

Fantasizing about someone stuffing a handgun up your bum again, huh?

No. More than I have, but not at all unusual for this part of the State anyway.

Yeah, I think timeouts are covered, but "do overs" get into some grey area.

Do you have that many magazines? My CZ P07 Duty has 18+1 for two mags, so I figure if I can't take down a threat with 38 shots then I deserve whatever I get

Yes, I do. And they're all loaded up and ready to go. Sadly, only one 30-rounder, though.
And what if that "threat" is multiple ragheads? You're gonna wish you had more magazines...
