LOS ANGELES (AP) — Four California high schools will be forced to change mascots after Gov. Jerry Brown signed legislation making the state the first to bar public schools from using the Redskins name for sports teams.
It was one of three sports-related bills approved by Brown in the last week. He also signed a measure that bans players and coaches from using smokeless tobacco at professional baseball parks and another that recognizes competitive cheerleading as a high school sport.

You can say that about a lot of things (alcohol, fast food, etc.).
I can understand the smoking ban. The smoke infringes on others. Smokeless tobacco does not.
This is all about the impression on kids. Well how about cleaning up television shows? Oh, that's right. That is for parents to deal with. What's the difference here?

I'm totally with Flaggy on this.
How can you ever expect baseball players and coaches to endure the boredom of their own games?

Feck em
Just take a small dip and gut it
I did it for a long time before I quit the stuff
Let em send the dip police around and pull people's lips down to look and show how stupid this is
I love how the same people who are in favor of sh2t like this are probably the same people who have sand in their vaginas over the criminalization of pot

Players are still going to spit. Many chew sunflower seeds and do a lot of spitting. How can a kid tell, from 50 feet away, what a player is spitting.
And who exactly is going to enforce this? Police? Ha. Good one.

Oh, and just wait until the first player declines a free agent offer from the Dodgers, Padres, Angels, A's, or Giants because he wants to be able to dip freely during games and practices.

But politically, this is ridiculous.

They ought to just put poison in that sh!t and get it over with
People would still buy it - it is so addictive

If you decline a contract for that reason then your priorities are very fucked up.

It will be banned in MLB soon, so it won't matter.

If men are not able to comment on women's rights, then non-dippers should not comment on dipper's rights.

Well, I'd rather a player dip than get drunk or eat fast food during a game.

Nothing wrong with an in-game ballpark frank to boost the energy.

I'm surprised it's still allowed. Target field even bans e-cigs.
