This is a letter he wrote to a friend in the British Parliament during the Revolution: (this is how you convey enmity in a short, succinct manner)

Philada. July 5. 1775

Mr. Strahan

You are a Member of Parliament, and one of that Majority which has doomed my Country to Destruction. You have begun to burn our Towns and murder our People. — Look upon your hands! They are stained with the Blood of your Relations! — You and I were long Friends:— You are now my Enemy, — and

I am,

Yours.

B. Franklin

You always knew where you stood with this guy

I'm a ravenous reader when it comes to Franklin - he was a true product of the Enlightenment

His time in France is one of my favorite periods in his life and it was surely the least onerous job any of the founding fathers had during that period
