Rick Perry is calling it quits on his 2016 White House bid.

The former Texas governor told the Eagle Forum in St. Louis, Missouri on Friday afternoon that he is suspending his presidential campaign.

“We have a tremendous field – the best in a generation – so I step aside knowing our party is in good hands, and as long as we listen to the grassroots, the cause of conservatism will be too.”

"That is why today I am suspending my campaign for the presidency of the United States," he said, adding that he has "no regrets" about his run.

“We have a tremendous field – the best in a generation – so I step aside knowing our party is in good hands,
I think his exit speech was generally good but how can he say they have a good field with Trump in there? I mean really.

Yes there are some good people in the field but when you have one elephant in the room as bad as Trump is it kind of screws everything up.

What do you have against Trump? He hates liberals and darkies, and speaks his mind with no regard for political correctness. Is it because he isn't a fundie?

He is a liberal. :?
The fact that people like GATW buys his act says a lot about how easily it is to pull the wool over everyone's eyes in a Presidential campaign.

2016 is going to be one entertaining clusterfuck.

Trump is still going to run as a third party candidate to split the GOP vote.
Sanders is going to run as an independent and split the Democrat vote.
And the mainstream media is going to get their dream matchup of Bush-Clinton.

At this point once again. I am having a struggle finding any one I like. I said many times I wish Paul was stronger. Wish he hadn't come across as more of a kid than an adult. If I can't have a more libertarian candidate then I will take a more practical one . I have conservative views but I don't believe throwing the baby out with the bath water accomplishes anything so the real hard right candidates don't usually do much for me. At this point it would probably be kasich. But still a long time to decide.

I have always thought this bush would be better than the last bush but he'll that ain't saying much .

Don't count Carson out yet. He is one chill negro and he would bring enough of his homies' votes to tap into a lost Republican demographic. Throw Fiorina in as the veep and you have a dream ticket.

Jindal will probably go next, perhaps in an act of self-immolation in front of the Trump Tower. :twocents:

I asked The Donald, and he said he was the only one running for President, R, D or I.

Saying that the FIELD is good isn't anywhere near saying that EVERY SINGLE PERSON in the field is good.
