That's assuming the Democrats run someone other than Clinton or SandersSkjellyfetti wrote:So, the article says that if Trump won 25% of the black vote - he would win Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, and Ohio.
Ok.
First of all, North Carolina went Republican in 2012... so, they wouldn't gain anything there.
But, if Republicans did gain Virginia, Florida, and Ohio - that would only be 266 electoral votes. Not enough for a Republican victory - let along the "landslide" the article says would happen if those states went Republican.
The fact that Democrats have enough wiggle room to lose those three states is pretty damning for Republican chances in 2016.
You seem to be assuming that Trump's appeal extends no further than 25% of blacks and registered Republicans. Reagan had his Democrats. Trump will also.Skjellyfetti wrote:So, the article says that if Trump won 25% of the black vote - he would win Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, and Ohio.

Also assuming that every single 2012 voter who went with Obama over Romney would go Clinton or Sanders over Trump or whoever the GOP selects.CID1990 wrote:That's assuming the Democrats run someone other than Clinton or SandersSkjellyfetti wrote:So, the article says that if Trump won 25% of the black vote - he would win Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, and Ohio.

The article doesn't discuss this.CitadelGrad wrote: You seem to be assuming that Trump's appeal extends no further than 25% of blacks and registered Republicans. Reagan had his Democrats. Trump will also.
The Cult of Celebrity strikes again. Look what happened to Italy when it elected Berlusconi.Gil Dobie wrote:Trump has the Jesse, Arnold, Franken celebrity appeal. Most people won't associate Trump with a political party when they vote. If his momentum continues, he may end up as president despite what the Donks and Conks think.
